M40i Bolt on turbo upgrade?
I've seen on ECS tuning a couple of supposedly bolt-on turbo upgrades claiming 500-600whp. Does anyone know if these are legit options?
Obviously, we would need a custom map & downpipe at the minimum but do these cars need bigger injectors, stronger fuel pumps or upgraded internal engines parts to get more power out of these engines? Not interested at this time but definitely curious for the future |

Not sure which products you're talking about specifically... but there have been people who have gone to a bigger turbo on the x3m40i platform. Don't think anyone has done a top mount turbo though... it's always been a OEM location turbo. I could be wrong though.

ECS would be the last place I would buy a turbo setup from. Join the b58 enthusiast group on facebook, find a tuner you want to work with and have them recommend a setup they are familiar with. PureTurbos and DAW would be my top 2 turbo picks for daily duty

Some X3 M40i owners have upgraded turbos.
Things needed. HPFP DP Custom tune. Thats it. Anything else is just additional you wish to get, intake, full exhaust, charge pipes, spark plugs. Also anything additional should get you better reliability and power increases also. But based on your question thats all you need.

I believe one of the turbos ECS sells is from PureTurbos. Also, I do not have Facebook. |

Lastly I think you would be officially the first to have a 2023 with a turbo upgrade. So go ahead void your warranty already!

Youre correct broski. 2020+ do not need an new HPFP upgrade besides whats offered stock. But a HPFP is necessary for higher boost or a turbo upgrade.
