What a bargain! When I contacted GETBMWPARTS.COM when our 2018 M40i was new...……….the new wheel with all the needed parts was going to be a bit over $3,000!
That's the difference between all new parts, including airbag versus used lol. The airbag alone is a lot lol

That's who I ordered from as well. The shipping is super fast and they are pretty good on responding to messages as well.

Yes, they sell each individual part so it's ends up being really expensive. Plus getting it installed would be expensive as well since it's is not assembled.

I take it you didn't have any customs fees?

Anyone know if the airbag from the standard wheel can be used in the M sport wheel?

Anyone know for how much a great condition standard wheel with airbag could be sold after the swap?

My X4 M40i has the M sport steering wheel....according to the specs. What's in the car though is the regular wheel...anyone else run into this disparity? Bought mine new, so the wheel was in there since new.

Got mine from Latvia today. Perfect, exactly as described. After I figured out how to get the airbag out feeling for the clips, install took 10 minutes. Disconnect battery, remove airbag, unclip, unclip two steering wheel connectors, 16mm nut in the center, wiggle wheel off, wiggle wheel on, bolt, 2 clips, airbag snaps in, reconnect battery.

Easy as could be. The fat wheel feels great, makes the '18 interior look much better.

Gruppaparts, same as OP. I offered 1000, they countered 1110 which I accepted. (1149 list price)

I bought the wheel with the listing that showed the set button (not LIM) heated and 3 stage US airbag which matched up my '18 options that didn't have any of the driver's assist options just heating.

just a side note after driving the car I got the notification cruise wasn't working. Audio controls on the right were also not working.

I had to take a couple hours to figure out how to fully disassemble the steering wheel and found the seller had assembled the full wheel but didn't connect the cruise/audio controls all the way. I probably could have plugged it back in without disassembling but it looked like it was connected. However it took an extra snap to push all the way and now all works good.

Nice. This looks great. I got the LIM version even though the listing showed SET. he offered to send me the SET button but I think it’s not worth spending the additional money at the service center to swap out the button.

Having a hell of a time getting my non M sport airbag off to do the swap, also got Msport wheel from Gruppa parts.
Is it only the two spring clips that need to be released on either side or is there a third? bottom of airbag won't come out. All the posts/ videos only show the two clips...

Edit: so I looked carefully and I can see there is a third post on bottom...makes sense now...but how do you unclip it?

Edit 2: for anyone in future trying to release airbag on non M sport wheel you can release the third lower post by turning wheel 180 degrees and using a mirror and small Flathead pry the wire clip off post from behind wheel.

In fact, you can do this for all 3 posts just by rotating steering wheel so post is accessible on top of column and pry with flat head using mirror. I wouldn't even bother trying to access the wire retainer clip through the holes in wheel, much easier to do it this way.

On M sport wheel you have to use the holes as there is no access from behind, however retaining clips much easier to release through holes than non M sport wheel.

I bought from Gruppa parts like others , they put together a wheel to match my specs: heat, vibro , DA+ , US airbag and SET button and sent me an eBay listing . They were not negotiable on price though even after several attempts. However everything works great and the wheel was brand new. It arrived in about 5 days.

you can see the 3 openings to access the post clips in 2ndpic. The wire clips are visible, just pry with a flat head from behind using a mirror to see. Headlamp also helps. 1st pic shows airbag with 3 posts
