rear-view mirror camera?
Guys,
Just noticed this camera fit into my rear-view mirror and have no clue what's that for? Could someone please enlighten me? Is it something that comes pre-setup with any car with further options to be added when you buy the new vehicle? Cheers |

Traffic sign recognition is an option offered by BMW and I am confident that it uses that camera. The camera will look at speed limit signs and place them on the HUD so you can see your speed compared to the speed limit.
I am sure if the car is wired for this you can code it in but it would be one hell of a head ache. To get all of the different coding and the modules to talk to one another would be very complicated.

Do you have Adaptive LED headlights (Option S552A)?
If yes, that's for the high beam assists (Option S5ACA). On your light column stalk, you will have two buttons at the end of the stalk. The top is to select display on the cluster and the bottom is to turn on high beam assists. I thought in USA, this function is coded off due to regulations. The camera to read the speed limit etc is a different camera. See attached high beam assists camera on my wife's ride. |
