I have other cars that are much better suited to go fast but the world needs a fast, stable, good looking, and 'affordable' suv and I think the X3 platform is a good place to start!

Adding a rear spoiler puts more weight on the rear tires and lifts up the front end. It will make your situation even worse at high speed, even dangerous.
You need to add front downforce which you'll only get by lowering the vehicle to the dirt and adding a front air dam/splitter. You'll need coilovers and slam the SUV as low as it can go, then fix then put the alignment back to OEM specs. Last edited by Riick; 01-04-2019 at 01:21 PM.. |

Perhaps the X3 is the wrong vehicle for for high-speed driving. Why not consider an M3 that might be cheaper and easier than converting an SUV into a Ferrari? Once one lowers the X3 to improve handling at speed, isn't your vehicle essentially an (overweight) 3 Series station wagon?

Yeah that would be smart, and I do have a few cars that are much better for high speed but wheres the fun in that. Fast SUVs are awesome. My Cayenne Turbo S will sit at 150 all day. My 911 will go faster all day too.
The x3 is far from the right vehicle but I find it fun accepting a challenge and playing with my cars a bit. The next car I will buy will be an X3M or an F90. Both are/will be cars that will handle high speed effortlessly. I find it fun making a car do something it was really not designed for at all and having it compete and beat some cars that were designed to go fast. Everyone has an M3 that can go fast but not everyone has a ~500 HP X3 that can go fast. I like a nice sleeper car that can be an amazing daily, and walk out any highschooler that thinks his G3x is fast while I have a trunk full of groceries and my dogs in the back seat. If I wanted to break necks id go and buy a 720s. Quote:

Thanks for the Post! was thinking about this or an AC one
I was looking around and I saw this.. I really like the diffuser but I could live without the splitter. I am kind of concerned that the parts are taped on lol https://www.aliexpress.com/item/F25-...7-8eb05f69c780 Quote:

If anything that spoiler from ali is just a tad longer than OEM so no extra downforce created, just displaces the wind drag an inch down the road lol. Most of the exterior mods we will do to these cars will not create any noticeable difference even if you are going 140 lol just purely cosmetic.
But, if you want to try something I would find a high grade aluminum sheet or carbon sheet and cut it to the shape of front bumper slightly poking out and see if it helps.

Its still the only truth left.................if you can't do it on top, " ground effects" . . . suck
i.e.. dam/ splitter / side dams (even behind rear wheels) Then go do it as many times as you want. (aerodynamics)

I think the diffuser will look very good and give it a nice aggressive look

Not a bad idea. That X5M is something serious. I never drove one but I have a friend with an older X6M who has a lead foot so I can only imagine. It's funny seeing her when she's late somewhere and starts putting that V8 twin turbo to work. Good luck with those aero mods.
