Side air intakes are a bit on the shy side compared to the competition.

I hope that's the case. Would love a 0-60 lower than 3.9
Considering Alfa Quad, Porsche Macan Turbo and Merc GLC AMG were all just tested by CD at 3.3-3.4 BMW better be 3.5 or better!

Says it's going to set the new bar, will be tough to do when 3 top competitors have 500+ HP (including new F pace SVR with 550hp as that will compete with X3M). Rumor is BMW will have 450hp

With the AWD, I bet they’re going to be definitely quicker than the F80/82.
We have to leave room in the PS stakes for the Competition models.

They appear to be very similar Wheels as the 2019 BMW X4 40i just painted all black, hopefully they will be wider and a cooler design in All-Black, I'm sick of cleaning freaking rims!

I do not think these camouflaged Prototypes of the new X3 M & X4 M that BMW is teasing us with are the final product exterior wise. It's obvious that BMW were very very slow to get these test vehicles up and running and eventually launched.

They are actually different.

Yay another car with an m badge that I don't want to take to a race track. M stands for Motorsport... they change the name and it's a fast suv and nothing wrong with that. M used to be really special.

I think the M models for the X series will end with the Competition Model.
Which is planned for the X3,X4,X5 and X6.

The good thing is that with the M Performance models of which we will see in all models is the M Performance line. Which the new X2M35i will be joined by the X1M35i and the new X5 M50d/M50i and the X7 and X6 also.
Will allow BMW to offer the everyday MPerformance, Full blown M and when allowed The Competition if you are still not happy.
So you have a broader choice to what is suitable for your requirements.

Having spent some time with the newly configurated V12 debuting in Next years Life Cycle Impulse of The 7. I personally would like to see that implemented in The X7. It would be a perfect candidate.

I honestly cannot see an X3M CS or X3M CSL?
That would not only be jumping the shark. But leapfrogging over a school of whales and backflipping over an Octopus.
Although I do see potential for an M"e" model in the future.

You are correct. On further inspection on my phone they are slightly different, but just slightly. Not to fond of the sharp techy style. Wish they looked more classically cool like the M4 Competition Package, CS and BBS Rims.

But as auggiem3 mentioned they don't look wide enough in the rear.

M still is special. It always has been.
It's just that the requirements of customers have progressed market to market and many desires have to be fulfilled.

Will be keeping a keen eye on this. Itching to move to a speedy crossover for my next ride. GLC63 is awfully tempting.

If they can deliver a combination of comfortable ride and high level dynamics they will have me and surely many others back as a customer

Assuming Scott continues to stay clean and doesn't say anything boneheaded.

I went from M3 to X3M40i and couldn't be happier. The jump from F80 to X3M will certainly be heaven. Faster, yet more comfortable.
