My X3 M40i flashed by Mission Performance

After a few road blocks, which was completely related to the coding I had previously done to my car, Alex got my car tuned to perfection. I’m only on stage 1 and have nothing but a K&N drop-in. But, otherwise, I can report it feels as smooth if not smoother than stock and pulls harder everywhere...especially up top. And with a much better/safer AFR than stock as well.

Alex is patient, courteous, and can write code and programs on the fly to troubleshoot issues. It’s actually pretty amazing to see in realtime and gave me confidence that he is customizing the tunes himself and making sure they run properly with a few logged runs rather than grafting some european/middle eastern off the shelf stuff like other flash guys. I have been on JB+ with a mild 2lb. Additive tick and it was actually fine for me (don’t listen to those who are saying they’ve lost power or have choppy shifts with the JB) but the flash is noticeably better in every single way, obviously.

Also, the tune is adaptive to E85...I was told to keep it to about E20 or so to be safe in terms of mixture. The torque is quite addictive on ethanol.

Highly Recommended!

Well this is good that someone has a tune!

So do you have a track or VBOX to test stock and tune? Why not go stage 2?

It also sounds like you did this in person, I wonder if that is something he can also do remote? (Run logs?)

Thanks

Sub'd.

Great news. Glad some people are putting time into the G01 unlike certain larger companies

Sounds pretty promising. Will you be taking it to run some quarter mile times to see how it really is performing?

2 reasons why I didn't do stage 2 is that this is my daily driver and I don't intend to get DPs or race it and also don't plan on using E85 too frequently.

Yes they can do this completely remote..takes 10 minutes through OBD with an E-SYS Ethernet cable. But I had to go in ... they are about 50 minutes from me in SoCal ... since I had some complications from previously coding the car that prohibited the software from entering into Program Mode.

Sorry guys...probably not dynoing or anything like that (I've done that a lot in the past with my track cars and have done lots of tuning...pretty much retired from it all :P ) But this is right up my alley...Fast enough for me to have a little fun and reversible to stock in 10 minutes from my own computer and Alexs' support is great.

What coding did you have done that caused a problem? I’ve had coding done on my car and Mission is doing my flash later this week.

It is no longer a problem as Alex wrote some code to get past my problem that is now already updated in his latest mFlasher so you shoulnd't have any issues.

The problem was with my car cycling down ignition, like any BMW would, as the software inhibits programming mode. It needs to do this to allow the software to begin writing. But since I had coded my car to remember the last ASS mode there was a bug where the car would NOT cycle to ON with no ignition. So Alex induced that with his software/code and wrote it into the mFlasher software to perform it if it does not work from the cars commands.

I will say I had some timing pull while we were logging since it was 100 degrees out and my car's IAT's were through the roof after a long drive to their office. Right now I will chalk that up to adaption and that I was on very old DME firmware that Alex has updated. So we shall see where the car nets out after a week or so or normal driving.

Thank you so much for these details. Glad to hear the problem is already resolved, as sadly I live too far from socal to take my car in, so this is all being done remotely. Already used mFlasher to send him my firmware.

Yes...this things holds boost wonderfully, if not conservatively. It's a touch over 18lbs at redline and still holding great AFRs!

What part of LA are you in? I'm really debating an X3 M40i and I'm curious how it drives compared to my stage 2 F10 N55.

I'm in Pasadena...I'm sure it's going to feel a lot different than your F10 considering mine is AWD and so much heavier.

I want to say it's louder but so far it seems the same.

Yes, more than just you. Looking for more positive results, especially on Stage 2.

You mean custom tune the car based on logs? If that's the question then yes.

Correct, I buy the stage 1 tune and then want to log to see boost or afr’s and timing based on my octanes, that’s what I want to do.
