Just curious if anyone happens to have an update on BM3 for our vehicles? My husband is leaning towards this now for his M2.

But it's pricey and I think BM3 will be a superior tune...but nothing like the DINAN. An overpriced kit that is essentially another piggy that is a less-featured knock-off of the JB4 in nicer packaging. Branding is real people!

Apologies, poor choice of words on my part. I was referring to BM3 availability for the X3 M40I.

Oh, no worries. I'm not sure about your question.

Quite alright. My guess would be that proTuningFreaks hasn't yet hacked the ECU just yet. We were hoping that we would only have to support a single platform for both of our cars. Oh well.

Still interested in seeing what the Dinan tune yields...

Apparently Dinan isn't going to be doing a Stage 2 for the M40i.

Mission Tuning has an ECU tune out. I got them on the phone - but they were really short with me. I had questions about their Stage 2 tune related to the DP. In the end I went with BMS. They haven't been any better with their support, but at least you know what you're getting in comparison.

Any updates from the members that have installed the unit? Looking for some feedback and initial thoughts.

I'm ordering one today and unless it's super easy to install going to have a local shop throw it in. Anyone have shop recommendations for the Denver area? This is my first BMW.

My Dinan Stage 1 was delayed because apparently isn't ready for download/install. I'm supposed to find out from the bmw dealer early next week.

Interestingly, when I contacted Nathan at Dinan he said it was available but then I mentioned the dealer said otherwise, he didn't have anything to add.

so as far as I know, it's delayed until they address the issue. Not concerned...I'd rather they address whatever needs addressing before installing in the vehicle.

Patiently waiting...

oh, and if you've contacted Dinan and no response or delayed response, they're at SEMA until the end if this weekend

Maybe I didn't read elsewhere, and I'm new to all of this, but does Dinan stage 1 not void the warranty? I am just noticing you talk about the dealer install, thinking I'll have my dealer install mine as well now.

It's a good idea to have the dealer install. As for warranty, others will DEFINITELY chime in lol, but the warranty is not voided per se.

IF there was ever an issue with the vehicle and BMW could 100% point the blame to the tune, then Dinan (after discussions with your dealer) would cover the cost of the parts and labor for whatever the repair might be.

It's the primary reason the cost of a Dinan tune is so expensive because they accrue X % of the price of the tune to cover any POTENTIAL issues that may arise.

While there are other tunes out there (flash or piggy back) that are less expensive and more aggressive, there's ZERO coverage for any possible issues that would arise.

I've been on Dinan for years with other bmws and have never run into any issues.

Yeah I'm happy to pay twice, if not more, up to around the cost of the Dinan just to have the security there. Excited, stage 1 arrives Monday. Calling my dealer to see if they can do the install.

Outside of random internet posts I have never heard of anyone damaging anything with a JB and I know a lot of people who use and push it.

How's the tune been operating so far? Mine's been delayed by Dinan and my dealer is saying there have been issues with it?

For anyone thinking of pulling the trigger on Dinan or Mission, they are both having Black Friday sales, both are 15% off on their websites.

Dinan Install

I have not seen any posts were anyone has had a successful Dinan tune on an X3 M40i. I tried about three months ago and gave up when my local dealer gave up on trying to complete a successful install.

Maybe there have been others but all I've heard is delays and issues to this point.

Having owned several other Dinan tunes on other vehicles with excellent results it is really disappointing that the company hasn't stepped up to resolve issues with the X3 M40i version.
