This is cool and all but 2020? really? waiting that long? people will have moved on since then. How hard is it really to just put the s58 in there and slap in stiffer suspension? they should be offering their flagship cars when the base models are available. why offer a model now and then people have to wait 2 more years for something just to have dated technology and interior?

All those ripping on BMW for making all the X?s, just think about where they would be if they never made the X5 and X3. Think about all the R&D that went into them that was also used for other cars and the extra profits they generated to keep BMW innovative. Also remember the X3/X4 Ms will be a ?test? for the new M3/4 engine which means it will hopefully be more refined when it is used for those cars.

You could always buy a Merc, Audi, Porsche, Oh wait they are all doing this.

You probably should start with a marketing 101 class before you try and bust BMWs balls on product delivery.

Reasons for M cars to be released one year later -

1 - M takes time
2- development - it's a word used in racing - look it up !
3 - a year delay allows any bugs in the base vehicle to be worked out - hopefully - so that they aren't introduced into the higher line and more expensive M cars
4- ever heard of an iPhone S model ? That's when Apple takes its regular model and soups it up with a little more performance so that the item stays fresher in the market place. Do you think M is any different. ? Same for LCI but in a much more reduced fashion

most of what you listed is product development. everything you listed is only one part of "marketing"

Marketing is:
(1) identification, selection and development of a product,

(2) determination of its price,

(3) selection of a distribution channel to reach the customer's place, and

(4) development and implementation of a promotional strategy.

Regardless. its just crazy that the interior wont change much and they will have to work to introduce new tech into the m variant just to have it obsoleted by the LCI refresh a year later.

The X3M might very well be shown in fall 2018, but it won't be for sale until 2019 as a 2020 model.

I believe the same goes with the M5, it is being shown a year before its actually on sale.

I just listened to this video with a pair of high quality headphones.

This S58 engine has definite promise it seems. It sounds more like a beefed up B58 engine rather than an S55 engine. There's no raspiness like the S55 note has.

I'm definitely looking forward to the M340i, X3M,X4M, and next gen M3 and M4. Although it still sucks the M340i will not get a manual, but at least the next M3 will have a manual. Also are the X3M and X4M getting AWD?
