I'm all for just getting the xLine HOWEVER some might be forgetting that it probably will not come with:

Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles
Anthracite headliner(not a deal breaker for sure but nice)
Shadowline exterior trim(REALLY want this, but can live without I suppose)
Body Colored Sideskirts and Fender Brows

It LOOKS (in the pics) like we gain paddle shifter on the xLine whereas previously they were M Sport exclusive so that's good. Maybe we get the sport tranny also in the xLine.

Of note I don't now if you noticed the interior option with leather/cloth. When's the last time you've seen cloth on a BMW? It looks good too. The xLine interior in the press release is Mocha which is stunning to me. I previously wanted Chestnut, gone, but Mocha is awesome! I also welcome the Saddle Brown choice as well.

My X3 M-Sport is a solid vehicle, but come on BMW! That is the best you can do with a refresh!! Freaking joke! My lease ends in August, and I am probably heading to another maker for some excitement. Getting VERY bored with the barely a change on the X3. Since when did BMW become Volvo???

I think the old m sport looks better and more aggressive. Regular lci looks sharper for sure.

I'm hoping the X-Line can be configured with:

- Performance Control
- Sport transmission
- Paddles
- Black or Shadowline trim
- Sports steering wheel (looks to be the case)

Mostly I want the MSport with the X-Line styling.

I'm very pleased with my recently-purchased fully optioned Msport 35i given this picture AND the final price I paid for the car. I would be beside myself had I gone w a non M sport model.
Hopefully this is the single least flattering angle of the M sport and as usual for these cars, they always look better than these launch pics ever portray.

providence,

Like most people here, I think the front of the 2015 M-Sport is pretty ugly. And I agree that vehicles can look much different in real life than they do in pics. However, the Xline pics show a VERY good looking car and the M-Sport is the opposite.

Regarding the pics showing the least flattering angle, that is extremely unlikely - they are showing the MOST flattering angle. Those are marketing pics whose sole purpose is to show off the vehicle in the best light. Companies hire talented pro photographers to take marketing pics, and they take dozens to hundreds of them. Then the pics are reviewed carefully by the marketing team to select the best of the best. Then those are Photoshopped heavily to emphasize the best attributes of the product. And then those are reviewed again and maybe Photoshopped again. Then only the best images are used in marketing media.

How do I know all this? While I'm a contract software developer, I've sat in on product meetings where they discuss promotional media like this. Some discussions were long and windy about what I perceived as trivial details. Of course I wasn't responsible for the making the product a success - the marketing folks were. While the marketing people may make mistakes, they do sweat those details.

Of course, this begs the question: How the #@$! could they have made such a massive design blunder with the 2015 M-Sport front end?!? I have zero wisdom about that.

Assuming the XLine package on a 2015 28i includes the sport steering wheel and seats, and the sport transmission, then it is perfect for my needs. I was ready to order a 2014 28i M-Sport just to get the steering wheel and seats. I didn't want most of the other features that the 2014 M-Sport had, but I had no choice. From the available info, the 2015 XLine version it has the exact combo of looks, features, and capabilities to fit my needs. I.e. I think BMW did a great job on the 2015 Xline and it will be a hot seller.

Regards

Dan.

Photoshop error?

Just had a look at the MSport on the German brochure, looks like someone screwed up on the wallpaper photoshops. Msport does not look that bad imo!

The features you quote were available as part of the SAP option with XLine trim up to 2012, which included the following:

sport seats with thigh extensions and adjustable side bolsters

Sport Automatic with paddle shifters

anthracite headliner

The earliest 2011 F25 35i models , SAP again, had staggered wheel set ups with 19 x 10 rears on 275 section-width rears,

Let's see if BMW brings that back as an LCI option.

It's very hard to find any concrete info yet in the uk but today's Sunday times states that sat nav and heated seats will be standard along with a £2k price rise

Is it my poor memory or have BMW played with the performance figures?

0-100kph for the 30D used to be 6.2s and the 35D was 5.8s. Now they are 5.9s and 5.3s respectively with the 35i being 5.6s

Have they tightened up the gearbox settings as Alpina have or are they being less conservative with the specs to fight off the SQ5 and Macan?

My dealer called me back today regarding production times.

He said based on past instances, he expects them to start building these in December.

I find that hard to believe lol
