X3d recall

Last November I saw this recall notice for my 2016 X3d (https://www.consumerreports.org/car-...for-fire-risk/). I got the official BMW letter in December 2018, but since then there's been radio silence from BMW corporate. I spoke to their recall center today and was told they still don't know when the fix will be available. Has anyone made headway in getting a repair date, buy back or favorable trade-in? The recall notice says there's a risk of fire. Anyone remember the flaming Pintos? The situation is frustrating as BMW holds all the cards but we own the vehicles which are now tainted in the resale market. Any class actions pending?

I was at the dealer this morning. Service advisor said they can get parts if the vehicle is having a problem but the recall has not been rolled out yet. I assume you would get the current design in that case. Rumor is parts for the recall next month but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I've been waiting on my recall repair now for about 9 mos. since the official recall letter from BMW. I've decided if it burns up, BMW will own it. Dealer still has no idea when parts will be available. The way it's going, by the time repair parts are available I will no longer own this car.

BMW "My Garage"

Today the "My Garage" link on the BMWUSA website shows that the "remedy" for the EGR defect recall is now available, but my local dealer says they haven't been notified yet. Anybody take theirs in yet? Buehler? Buehler?

As of today, the BWM dealer in Erie reports that parts are still not available to complete the X3d recall. For reasons that are rather complicated, I am also checking BMW Cleveland to see if the part(s) might have reached a larger dealer (than the one in Erie). As I recall, the recall notices for my 535d and X3d arrived almost the same day, but the 535d recall was completed in June.

Parts!

I finally got word that parts are available at my local dealer for the X3d EGR issue. Only took 10-11 months from BMW recall notice to part availability. BMW should be quite proud for their rapid solution to a potentially devastating problem that they created - NOT!

I hadn't heard from my dealer. I called & was told they had the parts. I don't get the sense that corporate or dealers have made this a priority.

Have appointment for my X3 on 9/17. Spoke with BMW USA and dealer and both confirm that remedy and parts are now available. However, will agree with raddoc's comment above. I only learned of this recall solution as an aside when speaking to BMW Customer Service on another matter. It was not because BMW or my local dealer called me.

My X3d went in for the EGR recall "fix", which turned out to be external inspection of the connections with pix sent to BMW corporate. Maybe they'll eventually issue an extended part warranty or more likely a secret TSB.

My dealer told me parts will be coming in around January. I wonder if maybe they have arrived sooner than expected.
