obd2 Adapter

Can anyone tell me what this Obd adapter is? I hope the photo uploaded.
I unhooked my scanner and this adapter came out with it.

That looks to be a connector to an after market device like a HUD. Suspect you have something like that, follow those wire to see where it goes - maybe up the A piller to something on the dash?

I going to have to drop the knee air bag to where the wires are going. My wife bought this car used. 2016 x3 35 m. Looks to be all stock. I have no idea where the wires are going.
Any idea how to remove knee air bag?
I traced the wire and this is what I found. Not sure what it is but I removed it.

Looks like some type of OBD II tracker device.

ya looks like the GPS/cellular trackers they use in rentals - not sure if this came from a fleet of some sort previously.
You can see the comms wires were cut and power is pulled via OBD2 port.

Remove it and don't look back
