Wheels information
Hi guys,
I want to replace my stupid 17" wheels on a 2016 X3, but I am confused about the specifications. What are the BMW recommended tire dimensions, depending on wheel size? For instance, now I have 225/60/17 (7,5J X 17) if I go 18 or 19, what tyre size should I choose and what J? Mainly, what "J"/"Offset" etc do I need for them to fit properly? Also, are the pressure sensors swappable, will they be recognised by the car if I find some wheels with sensors on them? I am looking for some 18" or 19" OEM BMW Wheels. Is there like a wheel size chart or something? Thank you |

Use these sites to test fit new rims and tire size difference...
On tires try to stay with 1-3% difference in rolling diameter from stock to keep your speedo right... This website shows you any variances. https://www.willtheyfit.com/ https://tiresize.com/comparison/ I think the offset your looking for is around 30-40mm but will they fit will let you compare an aftermarket rim fit to how your stock fits now...and shows you if it will clear the shock tower and such as how far out they stick... The tire size guide will let you compare other size options including plus sizing to your existing tire... As for pressure sensors, I suggest buying aftermarket replacements for the new rims this way your stock ones stay intact and you can use them for winter tires... And they will just swap tires and rim back and forth. And use the reset option in Idrive to have the new rims recognize them. |

For all your factory fitment information...
https://www.wheel-size.com/ https://www.wheel-size.com/size/bmw/x3/2016/ The wheel sensors are broadly compatible among BMW models. Don't purchase wheels from a G series chassis. They won't fit F series.

Your owners manual also has the BMW recommended tire sizes. If you go to the tire inflation chart in your owners manual…it gives not only the recommended PSI for tires…but it lists the tire sizes that where offered for your series X3.
You can also use one of the online part database sites like www.realoem.com or www.bimmercat.com to pull up the wheel diagrams (after entering the last 7 digits of your VIN or select the appropriate buttons). The aforementioned sites lists all of the wheels BMW offered for the model you selected (and their specs) as well as the tire sizes offered for those wheels (and their specs). You will also see the TPM sensors…and if you click on the 11 digit BMW part number…you’ll see all of the other BMW models that use the same TPM sensors and any other old or succeeded part nbrs that are compatible.
