Anyone dare put in 91 consistently?

My car is really new and I'm in the honeymoon phase, but considering it for the future 😄

Thoughts?

91 is fine, do not go any lower. These things rely on tight tolerances for better or worse.

We don't get a choice here, since it's the highest octane offered in the state.
Though I have read where more and more states will also follow.
So enjoy the 93 octane while you can.

Gas

You have to be foolish to use anything other than Shell 93 especially since BMW M recommends it.
Horsepower ratings from BMW are with 93 Octane. Open your gas door and read what it says on the inside of the door. And IMO you have to not care about your X3M very much much to use that panther piss at Costco or any gas station like that.

Used to be that BMW recommended Chevron fuel. Lately it's Shell. It just depends on who is in bed with BMW at any given time. If Costco would get together with BMW, then BMW would recommend Costco fuel.
Either way, they are all Top Tier rated fuels.

That's dramatic. Costco is top tier fuel. What do you expect the engine to do if you dare fill it up with anything other than Shell...spit it out of the tail pipe and refuse it like a toddler refuses broccoli?

Surprisingly Costco gas is good in terms of quality for the price. Costco uses about 5x the amount of additives than required by the EPA for both their regular and premium gas. Shell gas is also good with about 7x the amount of additives than required by the EPA but only in its premium fuel. You can't go wrong with either choice or any of the gas providers listed on the Top Tier list. Personally I fill up at Exxon because its the most convenient for me, but when I'm near a Costco I will fill my car up with Costco gas with zero problems.

Exxon and a new QuikTrip are the closest to me. I will use Shell or BP where available.
