Does anybody know if the 'Drive Recorder' can be optioned as a stand alone like the guys in the M40i group are doing?
I am adding 'Remote Start (1CR)' but I cant seem to find out if I can add the 'Drive Recorder'

Still in 150 and I just noticed this morning on the configurator you can order shadowline headlights for $250. Damn!

I know it's a small change, but I really prefer the darker headlight look. Oh well.

Interesting. That wasn't an option when I ordered back in June/July for August delivery.

Yep, apparently a very recent change for US-bound F97/8. They've been available since LCI inception on US G01/2 builds and even some international market F97/8 builds.

The shadowline package (which includes the darker headlights) on G01/2 has been removed on recent builds so it's interesting that now's the time they're making the headlights available on the M cars…

My car is an LCI, one of the first batch. A 2022 X3M.

We didn't have the headlights or the colored calipers option available right at the start of production. They are adding stuff as we go.

damn it!! I want the shadowline headlights. I got the red calipers option added to my July order. I got two weeks till my car! I trying to schedule to install my Akra exhaust too. Considering catted downpipes as well but not sure if it will be worth it.

Hey there! Joining the crowd. Gave up on a G80 build; never got an allocation. Grabbed an X3M allocation and submitted a build just in time before it moved to 150, week 44.

Awesome - ours are probably moving down the line together. Really hoping they're completed before the end of next week.

I found myself in a similar situation in regards to the G80. Would have been about 10th in line for an allocation at my dealer and they're receiving 2-3 slots per release. My impatience got the better of me. Really think the X3M will be a fantastic substitute.

10/15 exactly is the date that shadowline headlights came into the US configurator. I know this as hilariously, this was the date my dealer received an allocation and summitted my order. Had been on the configurator every day for weeks prior deciding on color and was able to get it on my build

I just sold my daily driver on Sunday, so I’m really hoping it’s completed next week too.

Soooo… I was first in line at my dealership for a G80 allocation. They had been averaging one allocation per month, but didn’t get one this last round. I already have a manual E90 M3 and two weekends ago I up and decided I didn’t need another manual M3. However, I may be overcome with jealousy if I bump into a 6MT G80 in tanzanite blue with full tartufo interior.

Can someone confirm this. I am working with a broker for my X4 build. I still have not gotten an allocation. This is what the broker told me this morning. I cannot get an allocation / production number because it is up to
bmw and not the dealers. Bmw has to literally confirm the build
All dealers con do is wait. My broker also stated that BMW is not opening builds for any x3-x4 m cars for any dealer.

Is this true ?

Dealerships are given allocations by BMW. The amount of allocations a dealership receives is mostly dependent on that specific dealership’s volume. Higher volume usually gets more allocations. I believe that BMW also takes into account the number of builds sitting in the order bank at a dealership. So yes, dealership can only wait to receive what BMW gives them. However, a dealership can swap allocations with other dealerships.

I’m not sure what the broker meant by BMW not opening builds for dealerships. Maybe he meant BMW won’t give the dealership an allocation without it being in Priority 1 - Customer Sold status as opposed to Priority 3 - Dealer Stock.

A broker has to acquire an allocation that was originally given to a dealership. Some brokers will have a better network for acquiring an allocation than others.

If you haven’t already, I would call every dealership within reasonable driving distance (whatever reasonable is to you) and tell them you’re looking for an allocation. An allocation is not just a build in the order bank, but an actual modifiable allocation with a production number assigned that’s either in 111 or 112 status. If you can’t find an allocation, you may want to put a build in at one or two dealerships AND with the broker to see which one pans out the fastest. Downside to that is you’ll probably have to give them a deposit of $1k or more.

That aggressive timeline looking like a pipe dream now. Oh well, will like be here the following week.
