Question Glass Shards in Door, Help!

I recently had one of my door windows broken in about 2 weeks ago (front passenger window). Fortunately, I was lucky enough to get it replaced the next day, but unfortunately, they left a crap ton of glass shards in my door. They mentioned that they did their best to vacuum as much of the shards, but closing the door sounds like shaking a maraca. Extremely annoying, and obvious enough that every single person that has closed that door noticed it right away.

So I tried getting to the inside of my door and see if I can get the shards out myself. Taking the main door panel out was easy enough, but there's another panel/lining that apparently also holds up the window and the motor that moves your window up and down. I don't really want to mess with this without knowing exactly what I need to do to safely remove this panel (and avoid breaking the window again).

FYI, I already went back to the shop to have them try to get to the glass shards again, but it's a 3-week wait. I also went to BMW, and they're quoting me $600 just to take the panels off... AND they can't guarantee that they can remove the shards either. I also tried 2 other shops, and they're refusing to touch a BMW door .

Does anyone have any advice, insight, or a how-to guide to removing the panels safely so I can get to the glass shards? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I would have held off payment until the replacement company cleaned out the door and made it correct. Now that the ship has sailed, I would schedule the work, with the 3-week wait, and get it done correctly.

I agree with Steve. Very poor work.

Thanks for the chime in so far. Any idea how to remove the panel to get to the glass? I'd feel better if I had a way of doing this myself should my 2nd visit end up being not productive .

I recently came across safelite autoglass reviews and was surprised that they handle worse problems. It is a pity that I did not know about them earlier.
Funny enough, it was Safelite that I initially brought my car to .

Search for Bavsound install vids on the X3. You should be able to find videos on removing the door panel.

The hardest part is getting all the connectors off. There is also a screw at the bottom which has a one use only thread receptacle.

The few times I have had to take my cars to Safelite they did not assemble correctly/did not install or broke connectors.

Good advertising though...makes it seem like they are good.
