Race Chip Piggyback.. anyone have one?
Just purchased the Race Chip with Mid pipe and wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I would have loved to do a proper tune, but pulling the ECU for a bench flash then sending the ECU to Russia and then having to do it all over again if the dealer over writes it is not for me.
So, for now its a race chip. Anyone with one care to share some opinions? THX Oh, I have a 2022 X4M competition BTW |

I have a Racechip on my 21 X3MC. I don’t have a midpipe but I understand it gives a few hp. I installed the Racechip myself and the sensor behind the wheel takes a whole lot of patience but it’s doable. I also installed BMC air filters while the air intake was out simultaneously taking out the charcoal filters. In all, the mods give a noticeable jump in power. But it mimics the factory’s power delivery. If you’re expecting the down low shove of an M5 you’ll be disappointed. But as it revs out you notice you’ve made pretty significant power gains. I too wanted a flash tune but as you note I’m not chancing the shady way of getting it for the 2021+ DMEs. But if a flash becomes available that I can install via my laptop I’d definitely research it. But for now the Racechip is worth the money (and aggravation of that sensor)

I’d say it’s identical since the x3/4 only differ from the back half. You have to take the driver wheel off and remove a panel to get access to the sensor. Assuming you’re using jack stands you have to crawl under the car to even get a glimpse of the sensor you’re working on. You should practice removing sensor c on top of the engine to get an understanding how to get it on and off. You go by feel for the most part. If you have some patience I’d do it yourself. And change the air filters while you’re removing the air intake.

I have it too. It's been super good so far. No issues with it and it's a huge boost to power.

i like RaceChip..its smooth with no bucks in gear changes. its simple on the app nothing you gotta do to change. at the end of the day i would say 80% of us are going to be turning in or trading in the car with in 3yrs so this to me works perfect for the everyday driver
midpipe is nice getting on it around 3k rpm and revving out to about 5500rpm and shifting can get rowdy (this is in 3rd gear to 4th so on) no drone and its only loud when you get on it

just took my x3m for oil change. I turned off racechip on the app and used the deactivation plug. Only thing my SA asked was if I would like a wash lol. All in all took about 3 hours but that included the car wash. Didnt say anything about racechip or my midpipe.

I installed it and maxed it out to 7. When I go in for service I’ll turn it off and remove it putting on the supplied plug

Has anyone noticed any increase or decrease in fuel economy? Just curious as my car drinks fuel. Like 275 miles per tank and thats like 3 days of driving here in the suburbs..

Haven’t brought this car with the Racechip in yet but in the past when I used JB4s and brought my car in for service no one ever mentioned anything. That was for scheduled services. The right dealer doesn’t go looking for mods to flag your car (unless there’s a related warranty issue). As far as gas mileage mine is the same or gotten a little better. I think you get a heavier foot after install and that’s why your mileage may suffer.
