Running E85 on X3M/X3M Comp.

Has anyone on here ever ran E85 on their s58 motor before?

Also what percentage did you run, did you run a blend or just straight E85?

Stock you can run up to E25

Mission Tuning offers E25, E50, E85 tunes

BM3 offers E30 OTS and custom tune for E50 or E85

MHD now does E30 OTS and probably custom E50+

We need a real in person drag run on all of these tunes and various fuels

The proof in pudding

Best out of 3 runs

MP lowest E tune (not the 93 with E25) is considerably faster then the BM3 OTS E30 tune. Need to see how MHD stacks up.

Not sure what you mean by reliability. Tuners have been using E85 mix on BMWs for awhile now for tuning.

Ethanol can do some serious damage to your valves and can wreak havoc on fuel systems(clogging/unclogging lines, corrosion etc). It's also horribly corrosive for any aluminum parts. Might be one or two aluminum pieces in there. Also your gas mileage will also drop by about 1/4. We already get such mediocre gas mileage, not sure why you'd want to use ethanol.

Rather make 600whp safely on 93 than whatever y'all claim for e85.

Not sure about full E85, but E30 blend works best on B58. IMO same for S58. I wouldn’t risk full E85 either. One more time - very happy with MP tune for both platforms. MHD is also great

Stock tune / 100% stock car can handle up to E25

E30 wouldn't be a stretch and if it can handle E25 in stock form, it was easily engineered to run E50 blends or so with proper tuning.

Also 600 whp on straight 93 is / will never happen unless you have serious supporting modifications.

Will it handle it? Probably. Do I want to risk it? Not really. Extra risk/wear and shittier gas mileage for a small hp bump is not worth it for me. Especially since we have no data on these cars/engines yet.

And from Mission Performance's post:

"2) Stage 1 for premium 93 octane: The lucky states that have access to 93octane at the pump will for sure enjoy a 670bhp(600whp) power output. Just like any stage 1, this is designed on fully stock hardware and being fed a regular pump 93 octane."

E-85

For anyone running E30, are you cycling a tank of 91/93 on any regular basis?

i was wondering since it's a custom tune, i forgot whether f80paul uses mhd or bm3 but would you have to buy the bm3/mhd and the custom tune or just the custom tune itself

The stock fuel system seems to be able to handle (volume wise at least) e85 tunes that are slightly conservative...

However pushed to the max on a custom tune, it seems at e70- e80 in colder denser air, and running peak boost and richer AFRs to allow for the higher boost levels than any OTS, there seems to be some failure midrange of the HPFPs

Based on a members car, you all are familiar with who seems to be one of the fastest s58s right now, very aggressive tune...

I recommended going e60/40% c16...

or,

Lowering boost by 2-4 psi (midrange) and keeping peak boost higher where the sam driver hpfps can keep up...

or maybe leaning it out a tiny bit and bakcing off tiny bit of timing and a tiny bit of boost...

Play with these combos until you're making peak power and tq and making it where its most useful...

(BTW Im NOT a BMW tuner, but I've tuned quite a few high performance imports, from Evos, Hondas, Nissans, using all kinds of platforms from Hondata to AEM standalone, to Motec, even HP tuners software on domestics...and general principals are always about the same...)

I cant wait til the m3.m4 come out as I would like to upgrade my hpfps anf lpfp to support 900+awhp, then I have a little surpirise I wanna test out
