Exactly. If that is what BMW is doing, I am all for it. I had to order my last BMW because I couldn't find anything on the lots that met my desires. With this model, I will more likely be able to find cars with features I want. Paying once for it is what we all do when we buy a car; this is just another way to do that.
A hypothetical.

You're out of warranty and decide to subscribe for heated seats. The feature is turned on and the seats don't heat correctly. Should that be a warranty item?

Here's another thing to keep in mind. Lease rates are related to value on the used market. The lower the value used the more expensive the vehicle is to lease new.

True. The F20 114i 116i and 118i were all the same engine and turbo. Just different tune. Components only changed from 120i IIRC or something.
Not in the US. American BMW owners would not put up with that bullshit
Imagine that class action.

They already had. The 320i and 328i were mechanically the same. Same block, compression, turbo, manifolds, head, vanos, etc. The difference was boost pressure via tune.

Different pistons and the 328 has a slightly larger mid-pipe.

This sounds great. You can buy a base car, then upgrade when you have the money Tesla is already doing this.l
