x3 E83 Transfer Case Motor Gear replacement

I had the following lights on ABS, BRAKE, 4x4, check engine. (P1774). I replaced the gear inside the Transfer Case Motor. The 4x4 seems to be engaging. I think this because when I'm turning at slow speed the car feels like its jumping, sputtering, .... Can anyone offer insight into this? My guess is the transfer case motor is bad and I should replace the whole thing. Thank you
