I'm just mad that I got suckered out of the steering wheel in 2019 while 2020 gets the m steering wheel with the m package

Do we know if the seat backs light up like in the other M cars that have these seats? Not really a necessity for me but I'm a sucker for gimmicky lighting.

I changed my existing order for a MY20 at the beginning of June...

I’ve just had my update from my dealer (Park Lane) and mine is confirmed for build week 35 (last week of August / first week of September). It’s going to be one of the very first to roll off the production line with the updates.

Delivery could be as late as week 43 but the guy reckons late September is possible.

Phytonic blue
Black vernasca w/ grey
20” 699 w/ non run flat
Comfort pack
Tech pack
Msport plus pack
Pano roof
Parking plus
Driving assistant plus

Good to know. Mine is similar but I went premium pack rather than comfort which brought in the electric seats, lumbar, and pano sun roof if I recall correctly. Didn't go Driving Assistant Plus.

So they tried to put an order in with an August build and sent me the order form before submission - no Live cockpit, and some differences in the content of the Tech package and M Sport Plus package. Then pushed it out into September for November delivery and the order summary changed to show correct options per pack and Live cockpit. Glad I paid close attention to that order form when confirming.

Unfortunately, a few disappointments, although I'm really happy with this fantastic machine!

- Small paint chip on the rear bumper. Probably when mounting the bumper, they hit the bodywork
- The lid of the trunk is touching the inside of the bodywork. Paint to paint for now, but they need to fix it, or else it's going to be metal 2 metal
- I now understand why a lot of people complain about the seats. I have the standard Sportseats and they are pretty hard. Also not enough support in the lower back and no option to pump it up or something. Only possible to inflate the lumbar support.
Will be traveling 3000+ Km's end of the month, so will know how the seat will treat my back

And now for my biggest frustration;
The center front speaker on the dashboard, had a really annoying rattle!
I'm an audio-freak, spent money on the HK system, only use quality audiofiles and then to have this rattle...
Will make a seperate post on this, because it seems that the rattly only appears after I've made a phonecall, which also goes over that speaker.

Besides these things..

What.. a... car.... !!!!

Sorry to hear about your paint chip Has your dealer agreed to fix it yet?

When waxing my new Carbon Black car at the weekend, I discovered I also have a couple of very minor paint defects. Seems to be just a couple of tiny particles (and one very small hair) under the paint layers. They're not too visible, and I'm tempted to just leave them as I'm pretty sure any respray attempts will not be perfect either.

Yup, they are going to fix it, after I'm back from holiday.
It will be a spot-repair, he told me.
They already swapped the center speaker as it seemed to be broken. So I'm really happy with that!

A hair under the paint.. Seriously?
I understand the predicament you're in.. To repair, or not to repair

Have been doing my research recently, with a view to purchasing an X3 M40i some time soon.

I've got a 24 hour test drive scheduled next weekend (albeit in a M40d) having already had a short one in an M40i which didn't have the 21"s or adaptive suspension, so want to get a real feel for how the RFTs will be day to day around the off-road terrain that is the South London speed bump/pot hole infested roads

This is the spec which I've got drawn up at the moment:

£0
Sophisto Grey Xirallic

21" Cerium Grey Double-spoke style 718 M light alloy wheels with run-flat tyres

£990
BMW Individual Ivory White Merino leather

£300
Piano Black - BMW Ind.

£1,700
M Sport Plus package

£1,900
Technology package

£1,190
Panoramic glass sunroof

£235
Apple CarPlay preparation

£500
Parking Assistant Plus

Not looked at the 40s, but the 30d M Sport Plus comes with 20" Non Run Flat tyres for MY2020, which I think is a nice bonus as they should run quieter. Perhaps it's the same on the 40 now too? I went tech pack, premium pack (elec seats and pano sun), ms plus pack, and PA plus.

The 20"s are indeed all non-run flats, but I vastly prefer the 21" wheels, think they really set the car off!

No premium pack in the UK, so have to spec the pano roof separately.

I'm in the UK . Maybe there's no premium pack on the 40 because it's already premium.

I'd love the 21s too, but gotta cut the options somewhere.

Sorry, I meant to write on the 40 there... and then realised afterwards that you were UK as well!

Electric seats as standard on the 40 but still quite an outlay for the roof. Still, it really brightens up the cabin and I've never had one before

2020 X3 m40i Build Now Available in USA

Stopped by my local BMW dealership today in New Mexico. Sat with a salesperson and the 2020 X3 m40i (20XE) build is now available. My current 2017 F31 lease is up on 10/31/19, so for now, I had her go through a "mock" build on what options I would like, when I order next month (August). Usually when I lease, I choose all options (why not).

A few nuggets:

1. Harman Kardon Surround (HKS) is now available as of 7/26/19. Same code (688) and cost ($875.00)
But, if select the new 2020 ZPX - Executive Package for $4,800.00, as an option, HKS is NOT available.

2. I want the HKS (have it on my '17 F31), so I had to unselect ZPX and select the ZPP - Premium Package ($2,450.00).
When you select ZPP, the following options are not avaiable (compared in the ZPX package).
4UR - Ambient Lighting
6U8 - Gesture Control
ZX3 - Surround View w/3D view

3. I want 4UR and ZX3, so:
To get ZX3, you have to select ZPK - Parking Assistance Package ($700.00)
I selected 4MC - Carbon Fiber Trim (interior) and 4UR - Ambient Lighting ($250.00) was added for some reason.
Also, I wanted code (MANL) - upholstery, so with ZPP, it is a $1,450..00 option (included in ZPX).

4. I live in a 4 season climate, so I want (4HA) - Front and Rear Heated Seats ($350.00). It is shown on the latest 2020 X3 m40i pricing guide (dealer), under the ZPP premium package, but you currently cannot select it in the build. strange. Hopefully that option will become available to order at a later date.

5. I would rather have HKS and live without gesture control.

Can it be any more confusing? Freakin' BMW.

She printed the 2020 X3 m40i pricing guide .pdf. I will ask her to email it to me and then, I will post.
I scanned my mock build (.pdf). see attachment.

^^If you want this, you have to take that, even if you don't want it. BMW does that on purpose, to force you to purchase very expensive (read: profitable) options and packages. That really pisses me off. The features I want are mostly only available in ludicrously priced packages filled with bullshit that I have no use for.
