Dropped off my X3 at the dealership and explained to them that my wireless Apple Carplay cuts out while playing music and navigation via maps at complete random times. I tested it with 2 different iPhones and it's doing it and it is very intermittent. I asked if there was a fix and or that there should be a iDrive update to possibly remedy my issue.

Dealer response your car has the latest iDrive version. (I am on 7/20) and you should not have other bluetooth speakers or headphones paired with the iPhone or else it will interfere.

I responded I completely agree that having multiple bluetooth connections at once will interfere with each other. But its just Apple Carplay at once.

Dealer response. No having any bluetooth device that was paired and listed under device under bluetooth in the iPhone menu. Meaning if you ever paired your airpods your apple carplay will be affected even though your airpods are out of range and not connected.

I LOLed and asked them to re check that. Waiting their response.

Lol. When you take you car in, do to help, type "imprint" and show them that screen compared to the attached photo and ask them again if your idrive is up to date ( hint: it's not )

On the 3 visits they saw the light... After the first visit, I told them it was a software problem.

My 2020 was an early build, 15 Oct 19, with Factory 1 Level (19-07-553) software.

It was a demo that I got 1 year after delivery (5 Dec 20). From day 1, I had all kind of glitches that had no relation between each other as well as the Tilt Down Mirror not coming back no matter you try except using the joystick. Also the Remote Service only work 3 times out of 100 tried.

I had the car in twice in for the mirror problem and like magic they could not replicate the problem. The second time, I try it in the shop and it work... I left the shop, drove around the building, park and went in the see my sales men. When I left put the car in reverse, mirror go down, put in in drive and the fuchen mirror stay down. Drove back to the shop and got the shop foremen out. After spending 20 minutes in the car trying to figure out what was wrong, he gave up. I told him that there was something wrong with the software. He said no unless I had an Over the Air Update... Really SP15 with 2019 software!!!

So I book another visit and told them to have BMW America authorized a Software Update because I had enough of this crap.

So I took the car in yesterday and today I got a call that everything is working. They replace the right mirror (not sure about that) and update the software. Sure enough everything is working. So far I notice 4 different thing with this update.

The car finally has 3/21 installed and the Connected app finally gets prompted with the option for Alexa Car Integration under hub/Alexa.

The car now responds to either 'Hello BMW' or 'Alexa' for wake words but the later is met with an error that the current version of the My BMW App is required. One of the Assist genius' was informed that the US app should be available April 12.

So looking forward to UHD Amazon Music without having to hit buttons.
Also registered for the Traffic Camera Information... should be helpful.

I'm still on 11/20 (got an X3 m40i - Late 2020 reg) - No prompts from the App, no remote update in the car settings.

Dealer wanted £70 to update it.

You aren't going to get remote updates in the X3 outside of the Connected apps. IDrive updates have to be done by the dealer.

So you say (and I mean that in a nice way) - but the dealer keeps telling me updates will come via the App.

I don't see how that's going to happen if I don't have the 'remote update' in the settings of the car?

Just tell them your backup camera goes black sometimes while reversing and they'll give you the latest update.

Used to happen to mine all the time. I think there was a TSB for it? Solution was to update the software.

Last week I changed my 330e M Sport+2020 for a X3 xDrive30e M Sport 2020.
I had the latest software in the 330e (registered March and built Feb 2020) updated earlier this year so Android Auto Alexa etc.

The X3 although registered 3 months later in June 2020(built Jan 2020!) was still on 19/11 software. Dealer is now going to update this after assuring me all updates had been done....

So hopefully Android Auto and can now buy the Safety Cameras.

Latest iDrive version was back in March for 3/21. Did anyone receive any newer version as of now?

As the usual cycle is March/July/November, there shouldn't be a newer Version other than 03/21.

Minor updates can be included, but basic software will still be 03/21.
