We're going to tar and feather the people promoting the June 16 date, if it doesn't pan out. Whatever happened to that guy promoting early May for the LCI press release?

Yikes, if you think the pre-facelift car is a simple drive train with low maintenance costs, you're in for a huge shock. Mild hybrids are hardly cutting bits of technology so I think BMW know a thing or two about making sure it's reliable.
I do not think the "mild hybrid" is necessary or practical in the real world:
(1) "Improved consumption" - so minimal as to make no difference for 99.9% of owners. However, probably will help BMW with respect to CAFE regulations;
(2 )"Smoother stop start" - who cares! 99% of us turn it off as soon as we start the car. 100% of us would completely eliminate it if possible. More likely than not contributes to unnecessary wear and tear of many components of our vehicles. Not being able to turn it off would eliminate me as future owner of this vehicle;
(3)"Hugh shock" of maintenance costs of current model - bottom line, hybrid models will cost more in maintenance at some point than the current models;
(4) "BMW knows a thing or two about making sure it's reliable" - reliability is not questioned, the "mild hybrid" is probably as reliable as the non hybrid model. However, with more complicated systems and batteries it is incontrovertible that future maintenance costs will be higher than the current model. This "mild hybrid" system would eliminate me as a future owner of this vehicle.
The "mild hybrid" changeover makes no practical sense. And I am not even addressing the environmental damage created by the manufacturing and disposal of the batteries.

Very interesting. I was just about to post a comment about the fog lights appearing to have been deleted. I've been staring at pictures trying to determine if they were gone or if I was losing my mind.

When you say dashcam, do you mean a camera in the dash looking at the driver (for the attentiveness monitor) or something functionally similar to the cameras installed in the windshield looking forward out of the car? If the latter, could you post a link? I looked at the UK X3 site and didn't see that mentioned (the DAP video was pretty short).

My 2018 G01 30i has Senatec; my 2019 G01 M40i has leather. From now on, it's Senatec all the way. Both have been regularly treated regularly with the (very nice but a bit expensive) BMW leather treatment product (I even like the smell).

The 30i looks brand new; the M40i has a nicely "weathered" look.

Don't get me wrong: both are beautiful and durable. But synthetic has it all over natural in this case.

Say, doesn't anyone know anyone with the mild hybrid B58 who's been able to code start/stop off, as Bimmercode can easily do in the pre-LCI M40i? I understand the defeat button is gone on those models.

It'd be a pain to have to shift the thing into Sport all the time.

This is a pretty substantial LCI update and I would have definitely ordered it over the '21 had my lease not been up this past April. The front and rear bumpers and rear tail lights are a step backwards. Love the Brooklyn grey and Tartufo/black individual leather options. Love the new center console. Love the 787M rim. Love the M side mirrors, the LCI M40i really does make the X3M unnecessary.

Questions:
Looks like the instrument cluster went back to round dials?

Anyone know what the "19-inch M Y-spoke bi-color midnight grey style 887M wheels" on the M40i LCI look like?

So playing with the configurator on the German site, if you have sensatec selected and try to add ventilated seats, or even the rear heated seats, it forces a switch to leather. Either mocha or black. None of the other colors are available. So it looks like this will likely be the case for the US configurator.

Yup.

Both are sport seats with identical power controls. That tells me they are built in identical frames and are simply covered in different materials.

I used to mentally sneer at the BMWCCA purists in the E90 timeframe who preferred Sensatec because it saved money (they seemed to prefer stripped E90s as a form of snobbery, too). They'd say, "You can't really tell the difference between BMW vinyl and leather." I thought they were full of it.

But they're right.

For the G05 X5 we had to wait for bimmercode to be updated for the option to disable ASS entirely. Pretty sure bimmercode will need to be updated again to support the G01. We had to wait a few months but may well be a quicker release for the G01. Note there won't be a ASS memory function, it's either all or nothing with mild hybrids. To turn it back on you need to code it.

I'm pretty sure this is it (taken from either the UK or German site - I don't recall which):

Calling on all prognosticators with a wheel question of my own.

After playing with the German configurator, I'm pretty sure I'll be building out a Tanzanite Blue M40i with the 20" Jet Black 699M wheels. However, I live in OR, where winter tires make a significant difference between November and April. As far as Tirerack and similar go, is it probable that a 19" set that would fit the 2021 M40i will also fit the 2022?

The button is there, if you order the car with dynamic dampers. It can be seen in one of the photo of the X3 interior from the side with driver seat.

I really don't understand the fuss with stop start. I leave it on and it works extremely well, especially in stop start traffic.

Not sure if you are aware but when the car in front of you starts moving it automatically turns back on, so it's ready for when you press the pedal. I honestly forgot it's doing in on the commute.

Abs if you do want to turn it off, you just knock the rear selector into S and boom.

Also, if it has the 48 volt tech, why is the ASS-OFF button still there?

I am just in the habit of pressing the off button first, before the start button when starting the vehicle. Second nature and no worries whether I forgot to do it after the fact.
