The rear lights look like a tuning fork. Toyota RAV4's a similar tuning fork. Whenever I approach a Rav4 from behind at night, I can't tell if it is a BMW or a Rav4.

The grille on the X3 actually looks good. Makes the whole thing look more modern and 'serious'!

The X4 still looks...like an X4

just kidding.

X3 exterior design is definitely an improvement. The grilles no longer look like nostrils and the tail lights look better and less generic. Very attractive overall!

The X4, however, still looks kind crap. It seems they stuck with the same terrible tail light design, and the grilles now look oddly shaped on the X4 for some reason. I don't see them selling many of these, and I really had high hopes for the X4 LCI, too! What a shame!

a) what about the X4 LCI taillights? Is this the first time in history that BMW did not touch the rear lights on an LCI?
b) X3 LCI taillights looking horrible - what is BMW currently thinking?? Furthermore it's now sure that the leak of the 2 series is real, as the taillight design is similar.
c) M40i modell: BMW M mirrors, M double slat grille, [strange designed] M badge on the grille - like what?!

Bmw was scared of making the X4 lights any uglier

Well, at first I didn't like them either, but I'm fine with it now. The new X3 taillights are by far worse, though!

As a data point, the german LCI configurator has laser lights as an option

2021 BMW X3 M40i  [10.00]
I think the X4 taillights are great. I wish they would make the X3 taillights that way. The current X3 tail light design is not significantly different than the 2012 one I was considering once. The X3 LCI lights are worse. And the rear bumper area of the X4 is really weird.
And if I'm reading it right - no Cognac leather on the LCI X3? Whats up with that.

Some observations:

1) The front design on the standard X3 is much cleaner and looks quite classy, at quick glance it kind off looks like an X7. Not so sure about the taillights though...
2)The interior is a major improvement.
3) Design details like M color stitching on the steering wheel, M mirrors, double slats in the grille and M badge on the grille are traditionally reserved for proper M cars. Why are they now being used on the X4 M40i?

Something seriously wrong with BMW design, taillights look like a work of a 4 year old having fun with shapes. fire the entire design team, they simply have no class or finesse, changing every bit just for the sake of it. they turning into a Toyota, no DNA, designs going all directions as long as changes are made.

Now live on UK BMW site

Lots of features to like but dont understand why quoted 0-60 time is now 0.1s slower on LCI model despite what appears to be 6bhp more power

Brooklyn Grey looks nice

Brooklyn Grey looks nice
It should be the added weight of the mild hybrid technology.
However, it does not include the boost produced by this technology.
Who knows...

Heavier and slower not sure that's progress, power uplift would have been welcome to replace my current M40i next year. If the M340i can get 382 Bhp with PPF then X3 should too. Lots of competition in this spac3

This would be in line with the restrictions we saw in the MY2021 due to the component issues.
