I'll just be surprised if it's even available today. Maybe BMW has turned a new page, but historically they're pretty horrific at not only having the configurator function and match up against the actual ordering guide, but also having the configurator timely launch up against when production of the new MY vehicles start.

Well the website hasn't updated and the dealers haven't received the ordering guides yet. Still early in the day but not too encouraging that I'll be getting to place an order today.

Anyone that is ordering right when it opens, what kind of discounts are you looking for?

I just sent an email to the person at BMWNA who told me the Build Your Own feature would be released today! Lets see what she says when she replies.

Got an automatic "out of office" until tomorrow - so don't know if we'll see new website up today.

I'm not expecting much of a discount. Supply for compact SUVs is constrained and demand is high so dealers don't have much incentive to give discounts. I will definitely need a car by October/November timeframe so I'm hoping to get at least 6-7% off MSRP. I know that typically you can get 10-12% but with the current market conditions I don't think that's realistic.

Looks like they are updating the site now - one of the slides on the BMWUSA.com homepage now shows the 2022 models. This slide wasn't there earlier today.

Clicking "Discover" just takes you to a page that shows the 2021 model, and Build and Price not yet updated either.

Are build slots still available for 2021 models? When I talked to the dealership build guy a week ago, he said there were still a couple available slots, but that was also before the LCI details were set loose.

They have lease/finance deals for the X3 through the end of June, and seem to have a joint marketing event with Marvel/Disney+ for a movie coming out July 9th - as such, I suspect we won't see the "official" X3 site and Build-Your-Own updated before then. This may match with the concept of a mid-July roll out of the website in full.

I would imagine if the Ordering Guides are now at the dealers, and the "Future Models" now enhanced to list the X3, that dealers may be able to now place orders at least for their initial inventory?

It's possible that is what's at play here. My dealer friend still hasn't received the new ordering guides. Maybe they'll have them by close of business today.

Ha - you are assuming coordination at BMW to have Order Guide/Price Guide on same day as updated website. Don't count on it.

As someone who started leasing from BMW in 2013, this couldn't be more true! And the dealers are usually kept in the dark.

This has been always true. Nothing new here. The configurator is always pretty late. It is not a question of coordination - it is not even in the plans. Maybe some day it will.

When I ordered my MY2021, it was from the dealer order guide (always wanted to do that). A number of weeks after that the online config went up, at that point I didn't even care.

I heard from a local dealer today that pre-ordering wouldn't open until Mid-August (potentially sooner, but they need to wait on their allocations from corporate).

Also, they're still in the dark regarding what features may in fact be restricted due to component issues.

YMMV, but this is from a relatively high volume dealer.
