That’s so interesting…we’re basically at the same value, but I have 6k more miles. The whole used car market (and broader market) is not only inflated, but inconsistent.

I’ve been helping a buddy look for a 991.2 GT3, and prices are in the $200s. The strange part is that RS models aren’t that far off. So the price delta between the RS and “regular” GT3 has decreased, but the underlying production split hasn’t changed AND the low end of that market edged up. None of it makes sense.
Agreed. I saw someone on here post that they were offered 75k for their 2020 just a few weeks ago, so the volatility is definitely real.

There are other factors skewing the market too, like Driveway and Vroom offering significantly more than their competitors in order to gain market share. That can't last forever.

Just for reference for anyone interested I’ve received the following offers from Driveway. This is for a fully loaded 2020 X3M, with under 2k miles, and located in Seattle.

05/22 = $72,403
05/28 = $72,975
06/03 = $73,326
06/11 = $73,058

It’s like following the stock market, when is the best time to sell…

Those are better offers than some of the 21's with less miles.

For whatever reason, low mile 2020's are pulling the highest values right now.

I’m not disputing this, but that makes no sense at all. I almost feel like I need to sell my car to capitalize on this…

Maybe once the 21s can be tuned to 2020s will come down?

This has nothing to do with values. For the most part tuning is a niche market for "enthusiasts". There are so many people out there driving these cars that have no idea what they are driving.

In Canada C8 vette *used* selling for 100k new 150k... You can buy a 360 modena for 100k... Yes the c8 has more performance but the people buying these cars just cruise around; do it in a Ferrari. Used cars prices are just so inconsistent right now.

It has at least something to do with it, but hey I'm just trying to rationalize the premium the 20s are getting over the 21s. Only major benefit is the tuneability. I prefer the gauges on the 20s but that's subjective. Only other thing I can think of would be 1st year collectibility, but doubt that's a player this early and on an suv.

It's probably just that they have more historical pricing data with the 2020 vs 2021 and the quotes are auto generated.

Correct. 2021's don't exist in many pricing platforms yet.

I wonder if it is a regional thing. When I plug in my exact config as a 2020, it comes up as 6k less than my 21.

73k for a 2020??? That has to be a mistake. Take that deal right now, seriously.. Here is the price from Carvana for my fully loaded 2020 with 3500 miles on it:

Your Estimate
$52,584

Expires Thursday, June 24

2020 BMW X3 M
Competition Sport Utility 4D

For me, Driveway was paying a 6k - 10k premium over Vroom and Carvana (2020 X3MC and 2015 Silverado).

Driveway is coming in at 3K less than Vroom on my loaded 21 X3Mc with 400 miles on it. How do I get them to give me the 2020 price? Lol. Fascinating stuff

Congratulations! Your offer on your 2021 BMW X3 M is

$67,000*

Current Mannheim auction values on low mileage 2020 X3Mc are about 68-69k right now. Those are sales within the last few days. If Driveway is really offering 73k then they are in for a world of hurt.

A small fraction of X3M buyers tune their vehicle, probably less than 1%. It has 0 effect on the market. Most M cars, while being enthusiast cars, are leased by normal people and driven. The enthusiast component is way overstated.

Amazon model - burn through venture capital cash at an alarming loss for however long it takes to gain a dominant foothold in the market. Or the VCs turn off the money spigot.

Carava, Driveway, Vroom, all on this strategy.

Are you guys getting instant quotes for your vehicle from Driveway? It's asking me to get my vehicle inspected further for a quote. Granted I have an X3 M40i and not an X3 M, still just seeing what the value is here.
