I'm tuned with BM3 Stage 1 - E30, v2.4.

Is anyone running aftermarket plugs? For my past 335i, tune and ethanol fuel i'd always run NGK plugs with a smaller gap to avoid misfiring. So far no issues, but I wonder if it would benefit and help keep timing more consistent across cylinders.

I have for my M5, went with ngk cold plugs and gap at .020

Oh, I also talked to Troy Jeup and his recommendations are to change the thermostat and use 5w-50 for oil.

Cool, but the S58 like B58 has an electronic controlled thermostat so you can’t just get one like the other engines. Also 5w-50 is really heavy vs the 0w-30 recommended by BMW

Side question. How does your stage 1 E30 pull. I'm running stage 1 91oct. Going to add a E85 mixture to bring it to E30 this afternoon.

I use e40 fuel - cleaner logs. Fast AF is how I describe it.

Yeah, BMW recommend 0w-30 so when your engine fail, you'll want to get another car. LOL

I know what you're thinking too, but being these new engines already come with different high-performance spark plugs than what we're use to seeing in Fxx series car.
It is recommended at the moment to stick to OEM plugs, I've actually seen a lot of cars under-performing with NGK 97506 (Most Popular Fxx series plug) when used in B58 engines.

Road smoothness (or if you have traction on it will just cut power at times it notices slip), If you're hitting bumps this will cause it too.
Most importantly is Fuel Quality

Mission Performance said I can just re-gap (to .024") my existing plugs (should be NGK stock) in the 2020 X4M I have ~13K miles on them for the MP e50 tune. I just bought their e50 tune today.

I am going to re-gap the plugs (will grab model number in the process) and leave my BM3 e30 OTS tune and see if anything is better (log wise), then will flash back to stock, then flash the new Mission Performance E50 tune.

F97 & F98 - S58 - Removing and Installing Spark Plugs Guide

Spark plug install/removal guide since newtis is down. Reuploaded new version that isn't cut off. Attached.

It doesn't mention disconnecting the battery - I recommend doing that before you start (leave the doors unlocked, trunk open, and place a towel where the trunk latches just in case) as you unplug/plug in connectors as a part of the install - not just the coils.

When reinstalling the strut bar be care not to pinch the suspension cable:

Time to change the plugs:

BMW Part number: 12122455258

Here are pics of the plugs and box if you're curious. Same ones that came with the car.

For an X3MC that isn't tuned, what do you think is an ideal interval to change plugs at... ?

I'm still learning a lot about the new S58. The N55 in my E90 M-Sport has a BMW Stage 1 PPK installed from the dealer & the upgraded package came with a "change spark plugs every 45k" decal under the hood. Kind of as a dummy reminder, just in case I guess. LOL
