Too late to change?
I ordered a 28i M Sport with every option (sans HUD). Now I'm rethinking that I should have gone with the 35i. My test drive on the 35i was horrible - the CA wanted nothing to do with me (I have no idea why - I just came in after the Team USA test drive looking to buy??) and maybe that's influencing my decision.
When I check my vehicle status at bmwusa.com it states 'production begins.'. I just placed the order this Moday. Do I have time to change?? Is 28i M Sport an oxymoron? Should it be 35i M Sport? Thanks, dr |

Maybe, but call your dealer immediately.
Keep in mind you can always not take delivery on the 28i and order the one you really want. I don't think the dealer can legally hold your deposit. Also nothing wrong with the 28i- just not as quick. Drive the 28i and 35I I back to back and then decide. Let us know what happens. |

Once production begins (status 112), it is too late to make changes. Best thing you could do is tell the dealer you want to put in a new order and refuse the 28i when it comes in.

I changed the interior trim on my order a few weeks after I placed it. It definitely altered my delivery time. It does for some people and doesn't for others. I think it's just a matter of luck and where your car is in the queue.

Ugh - heard back from my CA. Too late to make a change. I asked if he could make a phone call just to confirm. Doesn't sound good though...
I guess on the bright side it's an extra $3k in my pocket... Thanks, dr |

Wow you guys are lucky. I put my order in over two weeks ago for a 28i and was told production won't even begin until the last week of September.
I am in the same dilemma you are in. Considered switching to a 35i. I asked my dealer and they said they can switch my order to a 35i with no penalty to me. Although they did say if I change my order my original 28i order will still be built as is, but will go to a different dealer so they can sell it. |

There are 28i production slots and 35i production slots...if you switched to a 35i your dealer would have to find/trade for/use a 35i slot. It is also possible this way will get you an earlier production time ! |
