Question How much hp can i get with mods in my 2014 X3 M

Im fairly new to cars and mods, so i just know the basics when it comes to that stuff but i want to know how much horsepower i can get with my engine. I was also wondering if all mods work the same for all N55 engines, since there are different variations of the engine.

I cant seem to find a lot of info on my type of car being the "m" model and not really sure if it makes a lot of difference.

You shook me for a second. I had to do a Google search to make sure I wasn’t missing something. You meant M-sport.

To answer your quesrtion, they’re (N55) all essentially the same. So pretty much go to any of the forums with the N55 and read up on what can be done. It all depends on your goals.

Something quick and easy: a JB + tuner. I use it. +4 psi over stock. Noticeable difference for sure and now I can’t go without it. Many other options as well besides this. I gave only 1 example.

More involved: supportive stuff like a metal charge pipe, etc. many, many options. MHD, bootmod3, downpipes, air intakes, intercooler…. Vrsf, rvg, burgerturning, JB4, Pure Turbos…I’m throwing out name brands of various things. the list goes on and on.

I have to be vague because I don’t know what your goals are. But there is tons of information out there to make your head spin.

Welcome to the forum...
Unfortunately, they never made a F25 real "M" but rather a M Sport, which is mostly cosmetic treatments and offers no more power than a non-M. Depending on what your goals are, there are different tunes, upgraded intercoolers, trans flash, etc..
Most M sport models got the sport suspension delete therefore are kinda boaty feeling, if so, suspension upgrades can help with handling.

If you're new to modding, educate yourself as much as you can. Like some have replied, there's A LOT of information about N54's and N55's out there on the interwebs. But also read through it carefully and never hesitate to ask for a third opinion or even contact a manufacturer directly to get more accurate answers. You want to have fun modifying your ride, but it doesn't take much to begin to ruin things either if you're just willy-nilly throwing this and that on there just because it was "supposed to be better". You want to make power but you also want things to be reliable as well. Keep up on maintenance and tune-ups, this will go a long way.

An FBO (full bolt on) N55 will get you around low to mid 400whp. FBO stuff is basically all the fairly easy parts that are more or less plug and play without extensive tearing down of the engine or drivetrain. Like a different turbo (higher stage, 1, 2, 3, etc) IMO would fall beyond that of what's considered FBO. FBO parts would be like your intakes, intercoolers/piping, plugs, tune, exhaust... "simple or easier to install" parts (if you're modestly mechanically inclined). You'll want to also figure out if you have a EWG (Electronic Wastegate) or PWG (Pneumatic Waste Gate) as some tunes and parts are specific for this difference. Either of those have their pro's and con's, EWG's should provide a little more power than PWG cars from what I've read.

FCP Euro has an article about some of the N55 variants
