New wheels!

I decided to go with a square set up for the neutral handling and the ability to rotate. I went with Apex VS-5RS in 20x10 with a 38 offset and 12mm spacers. Running the continental dws06 in 275/40/20. I love how it turned out. I think I need to lower it now. Opinions on eibach vs h&r? I’d like to keep the ride as factory as possible.

As an ex-fellow Moonchigander (name derived from condition of lunar-like road surfaces), I cannot understand any need to lower any vehicle and lose even 1% of ride compliance or snow/ice clearance. It looks fine as is.

During my time of searching for lowering springs. Given the 100s of images i've scoured through, h&r seems to have more rake vs eibach. If you're into rake, then go h&r. Less rake, go eibach.

I just went through the same debate including "should I lower it to look better but also lose winter capabilities?" and "Eibach vs H&R".

In addition to what Gr8ZongB58 said, the general consensus seems to be that H&R drop a bit more (1.4" front, 1.3" back) vs the 1" (front and back) of Eibach. Thats more fact than consensus. Also more people seem to think the Eibach was closer to stock feeling whereas I found more people saying H&R was stiffer. That's obviously subjective.

I'm not a fan of the raked look. I don't want to impact winter driving, but I also want it to look a smidge better. I've got a set of the Eibach springs sitting in my living room waiting to be installed next week.

What's currently weirding me out is that I swear I can fit 4 fingers between my front tire and fender vs only 3 between my rear tire and vendor. After some googling, I think it's due to my summer front wheels/tires being .7" smaller than stock diameter and rears only being .5" smaller. Tires: 255/40/20 & 295/35/20

In retrospect, maybe I should have went H&R which in theory would have evened it out? At least Winter will be even...not that anyone other than me will notice the difference. I'm not sure most people will even notice the lowered look, but i'm hoping it with carbon fiber tidbits all around will add up to making a unique look.

H&R X3M Springs…to me, the ride isn’t noticeably stiffer on adaptive suspension and also to my eye there’s no noticeable rake..the lowered look is definitely an improvement and I’ve had no issues at all driving various roads and surfaces.

May or may not help your decision but this is my setup with MSS springs. Adjusted to about a 1/4 turn from the lowest setting. It is pretty even if you ask me.

Centerline for measurement is at the hub cap.
Front fender from the ground: 29-1/2"
Rear Fender from the ground: 29-5/8"

Pay a little more for the adjustability is worth it in my case.

That looks pretty perfect. Way to make things more difficult with a third option lol. How’s the ride compared to stock?

Depends on what you're looking for. I personally needed more road feel. Stock was too floaty for me. Almost made the vehicle feel unpredictable around corners. Any lowering springs will make the car stiffer and "less enjoyable" to some but I enjoy the hell out of it. I know exactly where my tires are and every imperfection on the road lol

apex makes solid wheels... i believe this model is forged... i had the EC7 flow formed ones on my old 135i way back when and they were very light and super strong
