Moving to an X5
I have loved my 2018 X3 M40i since I first purchased it, but had been considering a new vehicle. Looked at new X3s, Land Rover Defender, Lexus G550, MB GLC, Toyota Land Cruiser, and probably others I'm forgetting.
The Lexus / Toyotas were all spoken for, and would be for at least another year. The Defender is really cool, but my very petite wife was having difficulty getting in and out. I didn't want a 24 X3, and also questioned the new 25s due to first-year issues. Didn't really think the X5 would suit me, but my dealer had a well-optioned one that is excellent. I'm not the biggest fan of Brooklyn Gray, but it was the last 24 in stock. They gave me a decent trade-in and money off MSRP, so barring some last-minute SNAFU, we'll be picking it up soon. |

We went from an X5 to the X3, only because CPO inventory was non-existant in our area and we didn't want to drop an additional 20k on a new X5. Good luck with it!

I flip flop between wanting the X3 and the X5 as my daily driver on an hourly basis. Either one is great.

Sorry, 40i. I really don't need the V8 thrust, noise, nor cost. But would really love one regardless. I actually realize now this one has park assist (meaning self park). I'm very reluctant to trust a vehicle to park itself, but will try at a parking spot at a VERY secluded parking area at a mall, shopping plaza etc.

Tip: to be safe, don’t use it if the cars surrounding the space are parked on or over the curb. I recently did so intentionally as an experiment. It is the one time that the car climbed the curb when parallel parking. It was a low curb, so I was not concerned about curbing the wheels. Every other time, Parking Assist has worked great, both parallel and perpendicular parking.

Went from my beloved LCI X3MC(Brooklyn Grey FTW!) and into an LCI X5MC and have zero regrets. I'm enjoying the extra roominess and luxury of the 5 compared to the 3

Wife’s X5 is our long distance travel vehicle. It is not as fast of course but it has way more options even though both were purchased fully loaded, including the last of the X5 3rd row seating. Enjoy!

I wish they still did the third row. Admittedly I may need to reluctantly trade the X3 for a suv with 3 rows.

Yea, that X3 vs X5 combined leg-room is near as makes no difference the same and you feel it. Living with both that's the main disappointment... The X5's noticeably wider across and has a 6" longer trunk, but with the firewall pulled back (ostensibly to fit the V8 engines) and the floor feeling a bit higher eating up front leg room, the big arch of the dashboard toward the front passenger, thick front seat backs and a non-tilt rear bench, the X5 actually ends up feeling tighter than the X3 with all aboard.

So far I am loving the X5; even though my petite wife has to stretch to get into it, she adores the view, ride, and definite upgrade in luxury over the X3. I will always love my old X3, but time to move on... |

The X5 is BMW's most polished model IMHO. They don't mess around with their volume leader. I think it's a fantastic choice. Everytime I ride in one I am reminded of how much refinement I sacrificed by going with the X3. No regrets, I don't drive a lot so something sporty is more suitable. But if I had a punishing daily commute, X5 would be my choice.

My first choice was an X5. But my 3 kids ages 40, 38 & 31 beat me to it. All 3 of them....all X5s. So, instead of getting another X5, we settled on an X4. Since "We" are now considered empty nesters anyway.
