Aftermarket Wheel Thread: X3M/X4M

Other than a few cars, I don't think many have done aftermarket wheels yet. Let's use this thread to share some ideas and inspiration.

Here is a shot I found of @r33_RGSport's car on a set of bronze HREs

I was offered 22", but I don't think 22" will look right.
21" is big enough for this Mid Size SUV/SAV.

Curious what a couple of these more reasonable HRE 20" sets would look like for around $2,200 price range for a set. My top choice FF10 and FF04

Very nice! I was looking at the BC Forged site earlier today and there were a few options that caught my eye.

Does anyone know what the OEM 20" and 21" options weigh?

I am not very familiar with cars or BMWs. If the wheels have TMPS installed, are auto shops able to mount the wheels and scan the sensor to activate, or do I need to do it at the BMW service center?

If there are independent shops, are you familiar with any in the San Francisco Bay Area? Also, what would you expect to be charged to just mount four brand new tires? I purchased the 764M winter wheels through BMW.

Surprisingly, the TPMS sensor program is done by you via the display menus.

Actually, I’m not even sure if that is required as I did not get any errors when I put my aftermarket winter/wheels and tires on but did a reset of the TPMS and they synced after a few miles.

You will of course need to get the TPMS sensors if they were not included with the wheels. I got mine for $41/piece from TireRack.

In NY, it can run $25-$40ish per tire for mounting and balancing. Just call a couple places. I prefer to go with shops that do Road Force balancing which is supposed to be better.

Curious why you need winter tires in San Fran?

TPMS are came preprogrammed. At least on what I am selling.
Once mounted, all you need to do just reset the iDrive then drive to let it sync-ed up.

Hard to compare.
I would love to have Michelin, but I was short on time.

But, so far it has been pretty good.
2000 miles on it already.
