Anyone using the OBDLink MX+ adapter? Trying to decide between this and the UniCarScan option. Thanks!

I have the UniCarscan, and works fine, but going to move to OBD Ethernet adapter and lightning to Ethernet dongle as way way faster than doing over Bluetooth/wireless

Can someone summarize the best setup? Do you need UniCarScan plus the Ethernet to lightning adapter?

Is it this?
1) BimmerCode
2) UniCarScan
3) Lightning to Ethernet adapter
4) Ethernet or lightning cord

???

There are two ways to get bimmercode from your mobile device to your vehicle, wired or wireless.

Wireless-Unicarscan or OBDLink MX are two recommended wireless. You are now ready to code.

Wired-you would need an enet cable, which is obd2 on one end, and Ethernet on the other. Then you need an adapter from Ethernet to your mobile device. If you have a modern iPhone, then you would need a lightening to Ethernet adapter.

All of the above are available on Amazon.

Hope this helps.

j080808 - Very helpful, thanks!

I"m curious why someone would go with wireless when the wired is faster and cheaper?

Good question, but that’s exactly what I did, thus the reason for listing my wireless in the classifieds.

I’m coding three cars in multiple states, the wireless was easier to carry in my bag.

I got the OBDLink MX+ from Amazon. It’s a little more expensive than Unicarscan, but I got it the next day. It worked great with the BimmerCode App & it’s very simple to use!

Not even sure why this is a thread - compatible adapters are listed and updated by bimmercode here - https://bimmercode.app/adapters/

Because personal recommendations are worth twice as much as a list of devices !

You mean the actual articulation of the boot door?

If so I haven’t seen that option. Mine opens pretty quickly but I guess it’s what you are used to.

Per AlpineWhite's post above - check supported adapters for iOS & Android here https://bimmercode.app/adapters/ - if it's not on the list (which it is not), then it's not supported

What is the secret to get enet cable to work? Not getting an IP address. Tried setting it to 169.254.1.1/16 and a no go as well. Any input is appreciated. I did test the lightning Ethernet adapter on a live network (not car) and I can connect.
