Right hand side, Volume controls are across top, below those is forward\reverse track with the scroll wheel in between. Phone and voice control buttons below these. Coming from a 2017 Tiguan SEL that had a very nice, neat and better quality button plastics and layout than the X3 I test drove (not a 2020), I was quite surprised to find the changes to this build are better in quality and functionality. I've just ordered one of these off Amazon so will see if it's any good. One dude said it dented the metalwork but he could be a bit of a lard-ass..... |

I hate that when I put my 30d into sport mode the gear changes are unnecessarily jerky, not sure if BMW thought that made it more 'sporty'. And my parcel shelf has stopped retracting properly again, was replaced when the car was brand new!

Just got my car back from the dealership for warranty repairs. What I hate is when the dealership programs/updates/resets my xDrive.. making all my Bimmercode setting be erased! It takes forever to find all the custom settings locations.
At least they backed up my profile and restored it. Guess I need to buy a sign that says NOT TO UPDATE xDrive without permission. |

The view on nav really annoys me as more than 25% of the screen can be obscured by a dark band. I presume it’s meant to be “the horizon” because in daylight it’s blue with fluffy clouds. Seems to change size with zoom.
Is there any way to get rid of this, or is it just “a feature” that no one asked for? Like gesture control. . |

I guess with CarPlay I can use Waze which manages to have perspective view without the nonsense of a fake “horizon” |

My2020 has very dim gauges & Idrive screen during the day because of the light sensor not calibrated correctly, so in order to see it clearly I removed the window tint (35%) on the drivers side which has helped some but is going to be tough this summer in the sun, still waiting for BMW for a fix

My parcel shelf also doesn't retract (from new). It's something I will mention to the dealer when I can.

I don't like that I can't get full-screen 'regular' reverse view and full-screen top-down. You can only get the split-screen of the two.
I'm almost never interested in seeing them at the same time and I find what's going on in the top-down pane distracting while I'm backing up using the camera. I also hate that you can't see the iDrive version in iDrive. There are many things that say "check your iDrive version" and you can't do it because your OBD tool is 100 miles away. Ok, that's a personal problem, but still. |

I hate this. The "outside" should stay on the outside.

Waste of money - bought one and it’s way too high unless you’ve got a really tall top box or are an actual hobbit. Standing on the rear seat squab is more than adequate. Plus even at a modest 75kg I managed to create a small dent in the wheel arch standing carefully on it for a few seconds - contact area is too small and inadequately padded to spread the force.

I'm guessing this has already been mentioned here, but I hate how delicate the windshield is. In the 20 years that I've been driving, hundreds of thousands of miles, five cars, I've only had 2 tiny chips. In the year I've had my M40i, I've got 6 of various sizes.

I actually like the start/stop feature. However, I've noticed a couple of things different about it with ACC... Not necessarily hates, just observations:
1) If there is a car in front of you and you turn the blinker on at a stop light/sign, the engine will turn off. 2) If there is NO car in front of you and you turn the blinker on at a stop light/sign, the engine remains running. 3) If there is a car in front of you at a stop light/sign, and they move to go forward a lot like it's their turn to go or the light turned green, if the engine is stopped, it will start (this is normal, just kinda cool). 4) If there is a car in front of you at a stop light, and they move a bit because they were dunces and weren't close enough to the car in front of them, if the engine is stopped, it will start if they move far enough and not turn back off unless you go above 4 MPH (this is not so cool). 5) If using ACC in traffic and the vehicle comes to a stop light/sign, the engine will not turn off, not even in Eco. This assumes a car is in front of you. If you come to a stop light/sign without someone in front of you, you're hitting the brakes or going right through (completely logical assumption, I've never actually tried this)! Am I missing any? |
