Intake tube vs Charge Pipe

I been reading people replace intake tube , some mention charge pipe.
I did some google and can't seem to find what are the differ.

Are they same thing, just call differently?
Or it is actually totally differ thing?

If they are differ, anyone got BOTH replaced but keeping the stock airbox?

I wanted to correct this. The intake tube is technically shorter. From filter box it is just the last tube. Charge pipe goes beyond that further down the engine.
Either way we still do not have a good intake system for the G01. The BMS is youre only option and it is a hot air intake and you actually lose power. IDK what would be the actual performance benefits of just a intake or charge pipe installs, besides cosmetic appearance and the sound.

What I read is the charge pipe will fail even just running stock, as they are plastic. My thinking is replace the charge pipe when my car is out of warranty to avoid plastic pipe fail down the road (unexpected, and don't have enough time to get metal one)

The intake tube is the fresh air side of the intake between the air filter and the turbocharger inlet. The charge air pipe is the pressure side between the turbocharger and the throttle body/intake.

Also, the charge pipe will not "fail" but "can fail" if increased boost is used and sometimes at normal boost levels. The benefit of a charge pipe is to allow better flow and quicker response for turbo pressure build up. Usually by being metal and minimal pieces with smooth corners and good flow.

I have the BMS intake, along with charge pipe and high flow down pipe. I added the intake last and definitely didn't lose any power. Just gained a significantly better sound and better throttle response. It's a worth while, cheap DIY mod in my opinion.

Did you do a dyno pull? Or a 1/4 mile comparison? Or is this just the seat dyno?

Just referencing many logs and feedback from my custom tuner (F80 Paul), and to your point - the seat dyno. Even if I lost a couple hp, I would gladly trade that for the sound, as this is my daily and I'm not racing it on a track. I picked up so much hp/Tq with the down pipe and custom stage 2 tune...a few here or there isn't a big deal.

I see we have a few companies that are now offering an intake tube and charge pipes. They are about $200 a pop. Is this worth it at all? The plastic pipes used to break in older gen BMW's. But I assume with the newer B58 setup it is redesigned. So even going higher boost levels with a tune. Does anyone here recommend shelling out $200 for either or $400+ for both?

Nope. I haven't heard of any on the B58 motors failing. The N55 and N54 motors had charge pipe problems. I think there was a 4-pot or two that had some charge pipe problems too. I don't really buy the faster response kool-aid either. Maybe some smoother flow, but negligible if there isn't an accordion of plastic somewhere in the path.
