Speed camera awareness/detection (for UK members)
Hi all,
I have seen some cheeky police officers hiding around corners in my local area with laser gun speed detectors. They tend to be where dual carriageways change from 70 to 50, right around the corner so effectively invisible! So far managed to keep a clean license, but it feels like the police are just looking to make money sneakily. One small lapse of concentration and wham! Whats the best detection tool available in the UK? As i understand it, jammers etc are illegal here, so they are a no go. But for the hand held laser detectors, is there anything that can be done, or is it basically too late once you are in the cross hairs? The road angel device seems to be popular here in the UK - anyone have experience with the most recent one? Last edited by Shadowdemon1; 01-22-2020 at 03:09 AM.. Reason: typo |

I've noticed the scamera vans owned by North Yorkshire out in force recently and as usual always placed half way down a fast flowing wide A road...

All part of his levelling up of the country....we should have asked what that meant at the time.

I dont own one of these devices but isn't it true that if your radar detector goes off it's too late as it means the radar gun/device has got your speed?
I may be wrong... |

I think with radar detectors it is easier to slow down if required, as they take a bit longer to calculate your speed and have a wider range for detection by a device before they are specifically tracking your speed (e.g. its a wide net). But the laser guns are aimed at one car and one car only, and you have to rely on the beams bouncing off a car in front to get an early warning. |

How do you use Pete? Do you enter a destination on Waze every time? Or just have waze running when driving? I don't have HUD (next time!) so on longer trips use BMW Nav, but have Waze running

Interestingly, Spotify prompts me on my phone if I want to launch Waze. Haven’t had enough time to determine what are the conditions under which it occurs. |
