I emailed Dinan a few weeks ago specifically about the 2020 m40i (despite mine still being in production, hah!) and they confirmed they're working on an ECU flash tune with a mid-summer 2020 release target.

So guys, help a brother out, if I wanted to get a tune for my vehicle, nothing crazy but I wouldn’t mind another 40+ HP and 40+ lb/tq, but keep the reliability and warranty intact, are there any options? I’ve done a whole Lotta tuning on motorcycles, but when your motorcycle is less than $10,000, blowing the engine isn’t that big of a deal.
Just get Bootmod3 very proven platform with over 30k users (across different engines) they're doing something right
B58 in the 2020 X3M40i is so solid my friend Adam X3M40i has one tuned on STG1 and is running 0-60 3.30 flat and 11.51@118mph 1/4 mile on the mexico street right now.

For only $600 this is the best money can you and dont worry about blowing up your engine because you have full datalogging as well. Just stay away from piggybacks (Dinan etc) as they do not properly or correctly add more power to the car.

How does datalogging let me not worry about engine damage?

Exactly. Or warranty issues once the dealer figures out you flashed the ecu. No doubt it's a great flash for not a lot of $$, but dealer will flag the vehicle

That is my biggest concern if it is not Dinan through a dealership. Every dealership has told me other flashes will void the warranty. Not too happy about that considering it’s a 60,000 new vehicle.

I flashed my car with a tune at 1,500 miles. Waiting on manufacturers to actually provide parts. Intake and exhaust. Yesif youre really concerned about warranty coverage any dealer IF they want to cill void your warranty so best solution is to keep your car stock.

I definitely agree with you, I think the tuner scene is very cool and I love checking out all the hopped-up cars, but I’m more of a guy who will use the piss out of a stock car, comfortable knowing that I probably can’t break it. But if there is some option out there that is on the much safer or more reliable side, I would consider it.

I have tuned my last 3 bmws, these cars are very reliable and can hold up to 50% more power.

I've heard mixed stories on Dinan that it's very expensive and sometimes they go back and forth with BMW NA to resolve issues that are not 100% resolved.

Yep, I am considering all of that. I take it from this forum that BM3 seems to be the best chiptune for this car? Hopefully they will have a 2020 edition out?

Tunes for the g01 are mostly BM3 like you said and MHD. Its user preference. But were still looking for actual performance parts like intake or exhaust. I personally would like the B58 CF intake to fit the M40.
