I emailed Dinan a few weeks ago specifically about the 2020 m40i (despite mine still being in production, hah!) and they confirmed they're working on an ECU flash tune with a mid-summer 2020 release target.

B58 in the 2020 X3M40i is so solid my friend Adam X3M40i has one tuned on STG1 and is running 0-60 3.30 flat and 11.51@118mph 1/4 mile on the mexico street right now. For only $600 this is the best money can you and dont worry about blowing up your engine because you have full datalogging as well. Just stay away from piggybacks (Dinan etc) as they do not properly or correctly add more power to the car.

Exactly. Or warranty issues once the dealer figures out you flashed the ecu. No doubt it's a great flash for not a lot of $$, but dealer will flag the vehicle

I definitely agree with you, I think the tuner scene is very cool and I love checking out all the hopped-up cars, but I’m more of a guy who will use the piss out of a stock car, comfortable knowing that I probably can’t break it. But if there is some option out there that is on the much safer or more reliable side, I would consider it.

I've heard mixed stories on Dinan that it's very expensive and sometimes they go back and forth with BMW NA to resolve issues that are not 100% resolved.

Yep, I am considering all of that. I take it from this forum that BM3 seems to be the best chiptune for this car? Hopefully they will have a 2020 edition out?
