Free of False Laser Alert with Radar Detector?
For those who have Valentine One/V1 Gen2,
Do you guys still get frequent false laser alerts from the gesture control? I just had a V1 Gen1 just hardwired, and I'm at the point that it gets so annoying from false alarms, I just want to throw it away... Like other guys recommended, I tried to block out the gesture control unit with some tapes, and block out the small red circle on the V1 display, and it's better but not perfect. I hear good things about Uniden detectors nowadays. I don't know they are a better choice in terms of eliminating false alarms? Any recommendation would be appreciated. I didn't like it, but if you don't mind wires in your sight of driving, this setup(2nd photo) works fine without any false laser alerts. lol

I have a V1 Gen 2 and I never get any more falses after putting tape over the middle of the sensor. I have my radar on my windshield at top and just right of the rear view mirror. I will only ever get a rare laser alert if I'm like waving my hand up and around the sensor which I assume is scattering the laser and occasionally getting picked up by the V1.
You may need to use a few pieces of tape. Use your phone camera to see the infrared grid on the outsides of the sensor. |

Hard wired Uniden R3 here. Zero issues except for Honda's, Acura's & some Kia models setting off some false alerts on the K band (in the ~24Hz ranges), but no gesture related alarms. In fact, I've left gesture feature active and no tape covering the gesture sensors above

As stated, try more tape and use your video camera on your phone to see the gesture control and if it is completely blocked. |
