Expected life span 2006 X3??
Looking at making my first BMW purchase.
It is a high mileage (180,000 miles) 2006 X3, 3.0 that the previous owner has done a lot of current work to. The vehicle looks like it is quite rust-free, and has a mechanical inspection report available from 2 different garages. I don't know anything about these vehicles. Can you get 200,000 miles out of them? 250,000 miles out of them? Thanks for any information. List of recent work from the ad: "front and rear driveshafts replaced new, left rear wheel bearing replaced, and rear control links and rear brake pads. Last month a new battery. This week left rear calliper and rear ABS Sensors. Last summer 2 new rear springs, rear oxygens sensors and left and right front CV Axles Sensors. Last winter front struts and springs and front wheel bearings (Left and Right). New vented rotors in October and pads front and back. Needs backing plates for rear emergency brakes, I have the shoes and hardware to go with it. Plugs done last winter. " |

the N52 is a super reliable engine mechanically. Its all the bits around it that fail. with that said you can easily expect 200-250K out of a well maintained one. Big question is transfer case. as its a big ticket item when it goes. and they do go regularly

I begrudgingly sold my 2006 MT X3 recently that I had custom ordered. It was the most trouble free car I have owned and I was very attached to it! 170,000 miles, only coolant expansion tank and rear driveline replaced in that time - and upgraded to Bilstein HD shocks by choice. Oh, and a rear window regulator. The clutch was still original and felt solid. Otherwise just oil changes and brakes. Not bad for 15 years.

I own a 2006 that's been a great vehicle I currently have 173k on the odometer. Right now I'm driving it as a RWD vehicle because I need to replace the gear in the actuator motor. So far I've replaced rear window regulators, the blower motor, the expansion tank, thermostat, and oil filter housing gasket. Not counting brakes wiper blades and basic maintenance items like oil and plugs. I have the M54. I'd say you could get 300k and than some out of these if you kept it up well. I am currently having some cooling system issues and leaks etc. expect the o rings in the hoses to go bad you can buy a kit on eBay for $20
