Ben @ RG Sport can hook you up. I feel that 15/15 is super easy to manage. Which wheels do you have ? |

I have the 698M OEM 19's currently. Until I upgrade to aftermarkets I want to try out spacers.

Looks very Audi-like I wish BMW would make more of its cars have better stance from stock. The X5's stance looks great, but some many other models have the wheels too far tucked in...

So after reading the whole post, people seem to have either 21" or 19" wheels. What is the recommendation of 20" - 699M wheels? 13mm or 15mm?
Also, the likelyhood of me ever changing my wheels is zero, I actually like the 699Ms look. @r33_RGSport: Do you also sell lugnut conversion kits? Thanks! |

Has anyone ran 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rear on 20" wheels? Looking to purchase some spacers to make the stance wider but no one seems to have done the 20mm rear.
Is it too wide? |

Mine are 18mm all round and look great, I doubt another 2mm will make them look wrong.

My advice is to be judicious when using spacers... When considering what spacer to use, always take into account the actual tyre width, the vertical (and horizontal) gap between the top of tyre and fender, as well as the 'look' you're after.
Sometimes I've seen a car looking odd with narrower tyres and too much of a spacer. Likewise if there's a large vertical gap between tyre and fender, too much spacer can look a little strange... I remember going down the spacer path on my E90 335i (non Msport). Doing the spacers actually made things look worse. Eventually, to get the look I wanted, I had to use spacers, change wheels, and lower the suspension!

n00b question so forgive me in advance:
Do spacers add stress to the wheel bearings/struts/suspension? How does BMW handle warranty claims and repairs as a result of spacer installs? What if a part is worn out due to the spacer install. Does BMW cover it? Thinking about doing 15mm all around. Thoughts? |

In engineering terms, spacers give the wheel more leverage on the bearings and suspension, so they do stress them. Ideally an engineer is going to design the load path to be straight as possible. They would certainly have justification to question warranty claims on those parts.

Wheel Spacers
Hi there,
I have G01 X3 M Sport with 20inch OEM wheels n tyres. It looks skinny so I am inclined to add 15inch spacers. Inside of wheel archs is deeper at the midpoint (top) compared to the edges, the extra space is for the tyres when suspension is under full load. If one adds spacers and offsets the tyres towards the edge of wheel archs. Wouldn't the tyre hit top of wheel arch under full loaded condition going over speed humps or pot holes. If not than what is the maximum a tyre (front & back) can be offset. Many thanks Sant |

I hope you meant 15mm (not inches!). I haven't added any spacers yet on my X3, but I think 15mm should be fine. Your wheels should not rub on the inside of the fender as firstly there's quite a vertical gap between top of tyre and fender, and also the wheel actually doesn't go straight upwards under load, but actually tilts in a little at the top.. I did have 20mm on the rears on my old E90 335i, and that caused rubbing on the rears when car was loaded. Stand by for advice from people who've actually fitted some on the G01 ! cheers

After reading the entire thread (which is really awesome), Im now wondering what are the common thoughts especially from the ones who did it, on what would be the most agressive yet still reasonnable stance (in my case, precisely on x3 m40i 2020 / G01, 21 oem during Summer, custom 20 in Winter) ?
Of course its super personnal in the end I get that, probably why Im hearing in general to go for 15mm spacers on all corners (..while some may say 20/15, others 15/20 or less), but I feel 15/15 is just the safest option, is it? Would 20mm in the rear causes any trouble? I hate looking at my oem g01 from behind (from the front as well, but definitely more from behind ), soo skinny, even with those wider oem 21 wheels... How far can I go, without any other tuning and of course without rubbing? Thanks |
