The BMW X3 M Competition is seriously fast — Car and Driver Test (0-60 3.3 sec!)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
"In C&D’s new instrumented testing, the BMW X3 M Competition rocketed from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. That’s seriously fast and almost a full second faster than BMW claims. So that makes it among the fastest SUVs on the market, which is very impressive."

3.3s 0-60
11.6s 1/4 mile

LOVE these numbers!!

The numbers are absolutely lovely, but I had more fun reading the toxic comments of the jealous Chevy Cruze drivers.

With a perfect launch, a 2.9-3.0s 0-60 is conceivable! (Yeah, the new M3/4C will be mighty formidable! ... and makes my E93 a god damn turtle.)

Don't forget those 3.3 times include a 1 foot rollout. Which decreased the 0-60 time by 2-3 tenths. These are 3.5-3.6 sec 0-60 cars.

Just to put this into perspective if these are running 3.3s with a 1 foot rollout my Model 3 Performance is running 2.9s to 60 with a rollout.

Someone needs to run one of these against a GLC63 S or a TrackHawk.

If Tesla 3 Performance had a Sport Exhaust, a dashboard, and didn't look like my son's plastic toy car... it would be the perfect car for me.

Yes please...I am still waiting.

Nothing is touching a Tesla in a 0-60 but after 130 mph or so...a good petro will eat it up.

Its always nice to have a Tesla in conjunction with an ICE performance car. I will say this, I have been driving the X3M the past three days and every time I wish I was driving in the Tesla. On the street it's just simply more fun to drive.

We just got a software update with one pedal driving and our second 5% power increase (10% power increase in the last year). This thing is just stupid fast, handles great and sounds pretty damn cool when the electric motors "whir" like a spaceship. Makes me giggle like a school girl each and every time

I do enjoy the X3M, though. As shifting, traditional engine sounds are still fun for me.

If Model 3 didn't look exactly like the base car, it might actually be exciting to look at.

Back to the topic at hand...

Most all magazine quoted 0 to 60 times are with rollout. Are you basing that tesla number off a magazine or from your own personal draggy experience? Separate question how many times in a row can you actually do that before the battery depletes too much and the numbers fall?

Does amplifying zero sound result in sound or is this a case of zero times two is still zero?

My 3.21 (3.03 W/1ft) and 3.25 (3.04 W/1ft) were done back to back within seconds of one another, using Dragy. Done at 85-86% SOC.

I have seen people get into the high 2's (2.9s) with a 1 foot rollout.

You can do it all day. From 75-95% SOC the power is identical. It starts to fall off "hard" once you get down to 25% SOC...3.6s (W/OUT rollout).

After a full day of driving starting from 90% SOC, I get down to maybe 70-75%. Just mash the pedal at any moment and pull 3.2s. Damn near addicting.

With another 5% power available via the latest update, that now drops to 3 sec, or 2.9 give or take.

I cant wait for Model Y to come out, and furthermore BMW's upcoming iX3.

Every model 3 Tesla front end reminds me of the ugly face people in the Eye of the Beholder episode of Twilight Zone:
