holding boost
How can I tell if I have any boost leaks with out a boost guage. I dont understand why no boost guage even if a simple one . I replaved the charge pipes and am not sure if it is holding boost as I have not driven it in a few weeks and my daily is a supercharged v8 with lots of lowend grunt I drove the X335 yesterday and it feels slugish but at times feels ok so I am not sure . Is there any simple guage I can plug into the obd2 and log the boost pressure?

The same way the car doesn't have a water temperature gauge, it doesn't have a boost gauge. If either are out of whack, you get a warning. |

I am not sure if that is always the best way to tell, But if you do get a CEL thats a solid indication. For example: when my factory charge pipe when kablamo I had no warnings on the dash noir even a CEL. I'm not saying you're wrong and I do not want to seem like a Riick here I am just sharing my experiences.
My advice for you rockit2 is buy BM3 and you can pull up gages where it will show your target boost levels and show your deviation from that target level. Plus you can tune it to make your X3 compete with your daily a bit!

It might take a few kms for it to appear though, so it may not be immediate. I'm sure you'd get the message had you continued to drive with the charge pipe blown... I too am just sharing my experience with the dreaded drivetrain malfunction that I had every drive, only went away with a new turbo....... |

I drove about 10 miles on it with the blown CP. The car shifted like it was the first time some one was driving stick and just did not use the clutch and Idled like a tank. No CEL or Drivetrain malfunction! I wonder why? I guess I must have not tripped the sensor?

And regarding your drivetrain malfunction resulting in a new turbo what was the BMW diagnosis? Are you N20/N26 or N55?

I think if the charge pipe is completely blown off to where air is not sucked into the intake tube it will show a light but it it is still somewhat attached to the TB it might not give a light a air flow is still going thru even though no boost will build up

Unlike most N55 charge pipe explosions my blew at the plastic flex point which would still allow air through the intake tube. So now that you say that I guess it makes sense! Thanks!

Yes I had codes galore! I had AC fault codes to tail light fault codes. I never looked at all of them because I assumed the computer just flipped a shit and lost its mind when the charge pipe blew. I likely did have some codes saying that but none came up on the dash!
I wish the best of luck to your charge pipe! Hang in there bud!
