1. No beep on mine.
2. If you get out of the car and do not lock it (locking it sets the alarm). It stays unlocked and unset.
3. If you unlock the car, and do not get into it, after a set period of time, it automatically locks again.

ok thanks

few bmws stolen near me recently

our last one was broken into as we left unlocked and iPhone 4s and holder was stolen from inside arm rest

and then again weeks later hundreds ofpounds worth of makeup

always wondered if mrs hadn't lock car

seems strange as most decent alarms auto arm after a period of time
especially clifford alarms etc

thought it was a feature that had to be present on Thatcham cat 1 alarms

thanks for the info

You can code for audio and visual when activating and deactivating alarm. Also you can change audio pitch with coding. If I recall the U.S. default beep when armed and two beeps when disarmed.

It is possible to get a beep when you lock using the key fob.

Push the iDrive Menu button, and then select Settings, Door locks, Acoustic sig. lock/unlock

It is not possible to do that on my top specification UK model because there is no Acoustic sig. lock/unlock setting.

Ah. I didn't think that something so simple might be country specific, and I note that the OP is in the UK also, so my post is no help for them.

On our post LCI X3 you can code the acoustic beeb (and mirrors to auto fold).

Dont know any alarm would auto lock after a period .. other then as stated if you unlock and then dont open a door after a preset time.

Yes this is safety feature on all cars. Prevents the car doors being locked automatically if you have just got out it, and left your keys inside it somewhere.
