Just happened to me. I figure it was from the internal heat of parking the 2014 X3 out in the sun.

Follow up from post #20 above. Hot glue fix worked fine until summer heat came along. I’m oh to find some Gorilla glue.

Unhappy Glove Box Cover Delamination

I'm surprised that this is such a common problem and that BMW have not found a common fix to this....shame on BMW!!! My 2011 X3 has sprung the same delamination problem as everyone else....it looks terrible. I tried Gorilla Glue double sided tape with clamps. It lasted 1.5 months but with the summer heat came loose again. It's a real pain. I suppose I shall have to take the whole glove box out to get good access to the door & cover to properly stick it back together and clamp again.

BMW has found a fix for this, they redesigned the glove box on the new X3s. and by the time this happens to most F25 X3s, they are out of warranty anyway, so BMW doesn't care.

X3 glove box door

Of course bmw has a fix for this, throw the car away and buy a new one. And for all of you that are so sure this would be a warranty covered item, you are very much WRONG. I have had plenty enough bmw's in my day to know that if you need something that clearly will not be a covered item.

What kind of glue works best?

Our glove box is almost entirely delaminated, because I didn't want to shell out $500 for a replacement box.

I had concerns about glue sticking to the plastic surfaces, since many glues can't make a secure attachment to a smooth plastic surface.

What kind of epoxy glue did you use? Do you remember the brand name?

And for those of you who used Gorilla glue, has the repair lasted?

I used a product called "Sponge-Rez"; this is what surfers and the like use to repair broken boards, swim fins, etc. a local upholstery shop recommended the stuff after I described my need (glovebox door).
The stuff worked great!

Me too! Use very little gorilla glue and clamps. When fully dry, use an exacto knife to trim the excess glue and color matching marker to fill it in. Be very careful!

Had some work done on the vehicle recently and mentioned the glove box delaminating issue, didn't even give me a price until I asked when I picked it up. Case of embarrassment as they would have quoted $600 - $700 and took it on themselves to say I would have said 'No'! How right they were. Will order the part myself from another dealer if the gorilla glue option doesn't work.

I keep putting this off on wife's X3 too. Keeps getting worse as I procrastinate. I asked when under CPO if they'd fix it. They said sure...for about $600. GFY. I was going to do the gorilla glue but I'll see if I can get the Sponge-Rez easily enough and see what happens.

Sadly, my 2012 X3 glove box peeled away identically to the posted photos. Took to dealer. "I've seen this 3 or 4 times in the last couple of months." Quoted $400 to replace the glove box front. Spent $15 at Lowe's for glue and clamps. Let you know tomorrow how it held.

Glad I found this thread -- this just happened to me as well (2014 F25). Wanted to see if anyone has any feedback on long-term effectiveness -- how well does gluing it hold-up over time? I'd rather just buy a new glove box door if it's going to delaminate again...

little tip for anyone doing this. I used some rough sand paper to scuff up the plastic of the internal door so that the epoxy has so.ething better to stick to. I clamped and left a day or two just to be safe. 2 months later still looks great.

If done right, the repair should last the life of the vehicle. I've used construction adhesive for repairs like this, that stuff is strong without being rock hard.
