What is the right oil for me?
Hello all, planning to change all my powertrain fluids and I want to ensure I have the right stuff for my 2016 Xdrive X3

Personally, I spent the extra and went with ZF Lifeguard 8 Automatic Transmission Fluid since that's what it came with from the factory, but the Liqui Moly is probably fine.

For the transfer case you can use Motul DCTF fluid. It meets the spec TF 0870. I used it over a year ago in my 2013 35i with no issues. There is also a Shell fluid that meets the spec.
For front and rear diff I used applicable weight Amsoil severe duty gear oil. For Trans I used applicable Amsoil transmission fluid that meets BMW part number. Interesting is that is is not the Amsoil DCT. |
