SONOS Speakers -- Wow!!

Heard really good things about these wireless speakers for the home and decided to give them a try. Very easy install and setup. I am not an audiophile at all, but these speakers sound incredible to my ears. Big thumbs up!! Anyone else have experience with these?

Let's just say you're their target audience...

If you want easy setup, no wires, and n00b sound quality, Sonos is for you.

Get yourself some Bose noise cancelling headphones and you'll be the poster child for mainstream audio.

Spoiler alert: Compared to any real home theater system, it's garbage. You think it sounds good because you're probably used to watching movies with TV speakers.

I passed on the Sonos due to the sound quality. But for sure they are easiest to set up and are pretty much plug and play.

Since I had multiple great sounding hifi systems already and didn't need speakers, I went with Google chromecast audio. Works great and cheap!

I have bose for everything except for the gym. You have a recommendation for wireless earbuds less than $100?

Wireless earbuds aren't going to be audiophile quality anyway, so I'd get the Airpods.

Bose makes some of the worst stuff on the market and probably THE worst for the price.

Well, I don't know about the worst stuff because their noise cancelling earphones/headphones work better than any of the current offerings and they have pretty decent sound quality.

It's so pathetic when the elitist people are bashing Bose and Sonos when users come in and are satisfied with their purchase.

Sonos is great for the minimalist that wants less wires and an easy setup. They are definitely over priced and don't kid ourselves and say they sound great. Decent at best but not great.

I have a pair of sonos play 1 for the cars to listen to in the garage and a playbar for the wife so I don't have to listen to the even shittier TV speakers. Overpriced.

I've had my Sonos for a few years. We use the playbar, base and play 3s for surround sound and have a couple play 1s around the house. I'm far from an audio nut so the easy setup and sound quality is fine. You can stream any music you want through Spotify as well. Enjoy.

Guilty as charged too - and cant be any happier leaving behind an expensive fussy system that always needed tweaking, that nobody could figure out how to use besides me - for a whole house filled with music, no wires and no remote control with a million tiny buttons.

OP - enjoy your SONOS!

I'm old school in some respects as I have a tube amp and ZU Audio speakers in my living room. I spin vinyl and CD's but also have a Sonos system for when I want to use my digital library or steam music. I've installed a couple of Sonos Play1's on my back deck and am thinking about doing a couple more on my covered front porch. For most of my listening the Sonos system is so convenient and fits the bill. But when I really feel like listening to music nothing touches the tubes and vinyl or CDs, especially when I have a fire going and am drinking some fine whisk(e)y. That's a more labour intensive experience, but it's like smoking a good cigar in that it requires a commitment to be fully appreciated. My two cents but I'm old and like to hang on to some of the old ways rather than going full technology.....kind of like driving my naturally aspired straight six with a manual gear box.

There is nothing "elitist" about informing someone that the "incredible" sound they hear is only perceived because they are used to TV speakers.

Sonos IS overpriced for what you get.

Their fake 5.1 system is 2 *tiny* speakers, a garbage sub, and a soundbar for $1,800.

You won't get everything I have, so I won't go into a lot of detail. I consider my setup very average, with above average subs.

I run a 7.2 setup with 2 Power Sound Audio subs and Klipsch Reference RF7 Mains and Denon receiver.

Power Sound Audio makes some of the best Subs you can buy. Anything you've heard is probably not even in the same league as these beasts.

Yeah actually you are right my friend , but it's really worth .
The investment was kinda big . I built my home cinema by myself .
I have the 5.1 speaker setup from Bowers . 2 front towers left and right with the mid. under my Pioneer-Kuro screen .
And 2 Bowers surrounds behind , my Sub is from Velodyne and everything is powered by a big Pioneer amplifier.
Everything is in piano black high gloss. And dust became my enemy !

I don't get into this your stuff is garbage compared to my or other stuff out there. To me, ignorance is bliss. You won't know what you're missing if you don't know there is better out there. The only time I get into other options with people, friends, and acquaintances, is if I'm asked for an opinion or it comes up in conversation. To me if you're happy with what you have, that's all that matters.

For me, I have specific criteria and tastes in music/sound. I've had my critical listening system at pretty much a static state for quite a few years now. The only tweaking I've done which doesn't majorly change the system was adding a Amazon Fire TV to connect up my Plex streaming system and moving my turntable from my 2 channel system to this one. Contrary to what some have said here, a "high caliber" system does not require constant tweaking. I have my system dialed in to the point where I don't see changing any major component in it. The only time I see a major change is if I have a major component fail. I've been kicking around the idea of swapping out the Meridian 568.2MM processor for a Classe but haven't been motivated to do so. Nor have I had a hankering to see what I'm missing with the B&W 800 D series speakers.

Look at my setup. I am not an expert, but I'm not an audio "n00b" because I suggested Airpods. He wants wireless earbuds...Airpods are good for that.

Apple's build quality is great, products are easy to use, and most importantly, they work.

I'm also an Apple investor, so my suggestion may have been slanted, but audiophile audio quality and wireless earbuds are 2 different things. I really do think Apple makes the best TRULY wireless earbuds at the moment.

Garage List
For ease and convenience they are great. I recently moved into a town house, where I didn't have the luxury of running wires all over the house for whole home audio. I got two Play 5's, One Play 3 and two Play 1's through out the house. Using one of the Play 1 as the wifi bridge. I also couldn't be happier. I bought all the Sonos gear during Black Friday where they were offering discounts at BB and 24 months same as cash.

For my "High End" configuration in the basement where I was able to setup my full surround sound and run all the wires in the ceiling and interior walls, I setup my 7.1 system.
