Mines gone the opposite way!!!!

Was stating Week 39 build up till end of last week. Checked with a Genius this morning and it's now saying Week 43 build... Not happy.

Currently asking dealership to look into what's gone wrong!

Update the thread if you hear any more...

Mine is 5055 production confirmed but should have been built last week and hasn't moved.

M40d as well...

Yep will do. Similar stories don't bode well!

I know mine was coming out of the South Africa factory (according to the Genius I asked a few weeks ago), I wonder if there is a parts or factory issue.

my CA just called and said my X3 is here and i can pick her up later today! it is an xdrive 30i and it was made at the Spartanburg plant so maybe that’s why the turnaround time was a little quicker? so excited!

That's incredible! I placed my order on 9/13, and got a production number right away. There has been nothing since then. I called today and all they would say is that production should start sometime in October. They said to check back next Monday. I'm thinking of checking out some of the m40i's that are on dealer lots now, rather than waiting!

There's a couple of us on here in the same situation. Mine has been stuck at 6000 (built but not dispatched) since 11th September. Apparently it's most likely a Brexit issue as this happened in Feb/March as well from the South Africa plant.
I would suggest you get in touch with your dealer and put some pressure on them to find out from BMW what's going on. All i've been told is that it shouldn't be as bad as it was in Feb/March, whatever that means. It's unclear if it's just M40d's or other types being built at the SA plant as well. Please report back if you get any more info!

Dude man, wait it out. Buying new and paying $$, wait a few weeks and get EXACTLY the car you want. Totally worth it!

I’ve been waiting since early May.

Garage List
My Timeline:

8/31
Dealer Placed Order.
Factory Received. Assigned a Production Number.
Within couple days was able to check mygarage.bmwusa.com.
Status: Scheduling Production

9/19
Status Changes to Production Begins

9/29
Status still Production Begins
Called BMW 800 Production Status Line
Automated call confirms car In Production
Automated call says, "Estimated completion date 10/1"

9/30
Status still Production Begins
Called BMW 800 Production Status Line
Automated call confirms car In Production
Automated call says, "Estimated completion date 10/1"

10/1 (times approximate)
5:50am CST Status still Production Begins
8:30am CST Status changes to Entering Assembly Line
11:30am CST Status changes to Quality Check
4:30pm CST Status changes to Awaiting Carrier Assignment

Several things to note.
I'm impatient as hell.
I had supposed before status was only updated once or twice a day.
Status seems capable of updating multiple times a day.
I think it unlikely my car went through 9+ production steps, including painting today.. but that's what system reported.
Automated BMW Status Line seems pretty accurate.

Last time I ordered a car, it completed on a Tuesday. It arrived at my dealer 3 days later. (MN) I think it would be too much to ask for that kind of quick carrier service, but here's hoping!

This schedule seems right in line with what a Week 39 production car would be.

@[DunderMifflin] order went through much faster than mine. Then, he ordered xLine.. I ordered M40i. I suspect M40i's are dragging a little longer. Remember, xLine had 30 day head start.

Hope you all get yours slightly earlier than expected. I salute all of you for having the patience to order the exact car you wanted - esp. you poor souls across the pond. It will be worth it.

P.S. I would happily take one off the lot if it had _exactly_ the options / colors I wanted.. but that car doesn't seem to exist.

After the disappointment of last week, My M40d is now status 6000 as of today...

Still not sure I’m going to take delivery of it.

Viewing a Velar HSE on Tuesday so let’s see how that goes.

Have you checked the reliability index for the Velar?

Yup. Aware but the Velar is pushing that average up, not down.

I’m also on the supplier scheme there so get preferential costs for the vehicle, better servicing rates and longer warranty. Which is nice.

The data I saw for family SUVs in the UK had the Disco Sport 3rd from bottom, Velar 2nd from bottom and Evoque bottom. All were a long way adrift.

Velar is a lovely bit of kit.

The wife has just picked up a new Evoque First Edition and it's stunning inside and out.

Any 30d cars moving. As mines a lease my dealer isn't too forthcoming and for reasons I don't want to make a pest of myself. My 30d to UK was a week 39 build. I'm guessing I'm not going to see it until late November.

So I just got this from my dealer. Car is built but anticipated delivery has moved from Nov 4th to Dec 4th as a result of Brexit. Boo!

Quote:
Temporary Delays to Vehicles Deliveries from US and South Africa

You may have noticed that a number of US and South African built IVS status 6000 vehicles are being held currently at the ports of exit. This is due to our Brexit preparations and is designed to mitigate against the risk of any potential problems as a result of possible changes to customs processes at UK ports in the immediate aftermath of Brexit on 31 October. We are making some temporary, short term adjustments to the timing of shipments and unfortunately this means that there will be delivery delays to a number of vehicles scheduled to arrive during October and early November.
Please keep your IVS status 6000 vehicles under review and a change to IVS status 9000 confirms they have left the port. Normal shipping times will then apply pending customs clearance. Shipping at this stage is due to recommence mid-October. Currently this situation only affects those vehicles scheduled for delivery in late October and early November and we will provide you with regular updates as the situation becomes clearer.

Mine was also a Week 39 but a US build, mine's showing a 9000 status - my dealer thinks it's on a boat but we can't be 100% sure. Hope Zero71 they get your onto a boat soon! Waiting seems pointless as no one knows what's going happen with the timing of Brexit.

It’s apparently been sitting for a week already. Once it hits 9000 you are all set though. Ah well, at least it’s coming soon-ish.
