Resale values

Trying to get resale values right now is tough as places like KBB don't even have the models listed yet.

I'm considering getting out of my X4M Comp but don't even have 5K miles on it yet which is not a move I've done in the past. Any idea how bad of a hit I'd take or what the value on a loaded X4M Comp with under 5K miles would be?

You will take a 10-15k hit.

I've been looking at use X3M Comps, the ones I saw were 2-6k miles with original stickers between 80 and 85 and they were asking mid 60's. Carmax in CA actually has 2 white ones and Carvana has a grey one.

Not sure if you meant from MSRP but I just got a new one $11,500 off MSRP plus rebates ($82k MSRP). The lease rebates were $5k - $16500 total off MSRP. The purchase rebates are even higher $5k plus $1500 loyalty - it would have been $18k off MSRP if purchased. This was definitely a good deal but it's a good point of reference

You can get a new one in that range.

No, I meant from 10k off the MSRP. 85k sticker price, bought for 75k, sold after 6k miles for 60-65k. This is if he sells it to a dealership. He can also try to sell it as a private party.

Those prices are great for buying but horrible for selling, plus I bought early on so I didn't get those deals when I bought.

If I could get $70K I'd prob dump it now but sounds like that may be really tough to get.

I truly regret ever selling my M3.

I guess it's because I just haven't connected with it. When I sold my M3 it actually made me feel sick. This just doesn't feel special to me or there's just something else, but paying a lot of money for a car that doesn't do it for me seems like a waste. Plus with COVID I haven't been driving much anyway so maybe it would be better to just get rid of it now and drive some beater while putting away as much as possible before the G80 comes out. Im just not sure if financially it would be better to sell now or keep till then. (though TBH I need to see and drive the G80 before I would buy one so that end goal might change too)

My main complaint is that I don't feel comfortable when driving. The seat bottom is either too narrow or maybe the seat as a whole is just too far to the middle of the car, I like to put my left foot on the foot rest but in doing so in this car my leg sits on top of the bolster. I've heard that many others say they have the same issue. There does seem to be a much larger space between the seat and the door than usual so that's why I said maybe it could be a seat positioning thing instead of the width. The seats look and feel great to the touch but this issue has made the car too uncomfortable for me.

So I haven't connected with the car, it's uncomfortable to drive for very long and I prefer the looks of an aggressive sedan over an SUV.

Thanks for the feedback vs. F80. I'm thinking about selling F80 to get X3MC now, it's a whole lot of money more so really debating it. I may just sell the F80 and sit on the cash.

Just go test drive it and see if you like it. A ton of people switched from F80/F82 to X3M/X4M and are more than happy with their new car. Naturally, an SUV will not provide you with the same degree of visceral feedback. But if you want or need a performance SUV, this is the one to get. Extremely capable thanks to the S58 engine and much rougher, sportier than the competitor SoftUVs.

I second this, especially being one of those people that switched from F80 to F97 - I lease, so that prefaces my scenario as well.

The F97 is not an apples to apples replacement for the F80. If you're looking for or expect the apples to apples replacement for the F80, the G80 will obviously be the closest thing to it. Timing for the lease return of my MY17 F80 didnt line up with the G80, so the F97 was my calculated decision and I dont doubt that when the F97 lease matures, I will most likely go getting into a G80.

With that being said, if you want or are ok with an SUV version of a 3 series M car, then F97 will meet your expectations. The F97 provides me everything that I expected from an BMW SUV with 503hp and luxury amenities. Its definitely more plush than my old F80 and has the new generation of BMW tech, but its also 1000lbs more and has a higher center of gravity. The F80 is more nimble, quicker off the line and raw, but the S58 is a beast of a motor. It would be nice to have both at the same time because the decision would be based on which mood am I in today LOL.

I had the same experience, less than 100 miles and the dealer trade in was 61k in Nj/Ny area earlier this year.

I would assume I could get this price the rest of the year if I kept miles low. also assuming once the 2020 rebate is gone prices will tick up a bit

Everyone wants them for nothing when they are new...dealers do stupid discounts 15% etc...and then you end up with shit resale, and then the same people complain the resale sucks....lol

Dang that's a big drop for 1500 miles I think a lot of it is the deep discounts on new cars affecting the used car market.

I drove one very briefly during the M tour, it didn't feel that impressive maybe it wasn't broken in or something. More curious about long term impressions living with it. Does it feel special, does the wow factor wear off? The F80 was pretty great for 2-3 years before it just became a "car" to me.

It depends. Would you mod it or keep it stock?
