X3 2019 Car Play
Hi Folks,
Really confused about this car play thing and the best option to go for. I have a 2019 X3 with ID6 and tech pack etc but it doesn't come with Car Play. I bought the month trial for £1 liked it but was deterred by the non full screen and the subscription. Now I go online and its £265 + a 3rd party cost to full screen it. Is there a better option out there? When it goes in for service, I will likely push for an IDrive Update so just want to make sure it doesn't cause an issue or I just wasted money on 3rd party activation. What have you guys done? |

You only get free lifetime carplay if you had it from stock or bought a full license from connected store.
That's the same over all markets. In some markets car play was part of a selectable package. You decided not to pay for the function, so no free extension for something you didn't wanted initially. Sounds fair to me. Otherwise all buyers who paid for it either in a package or from the connected store would asks for financial compensation. |

Two issues here... firstly free car play, secondly full screen.
I never got as far as the full screen problem due to the first issue. Not just the UK getting screwed. More unhappy people here: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1680382 |

When I first got my car I could try Carplay for £1 for 1 month. It was £85 per year as a subscription fee. Now it's just £265 for life, I don't need it for life and refuse to pay that amount of cash for something someone else gets for free because they picked their car up a couple of months later than I did. |

If you have iDrive 7 on a 2020 X3, you have ordered the car with the Connected Package Pro, which included the carplay option. Otherwise also 2020 cars will have iDrive 6 and no car play for free.
So it was also not free with iDrive 7. You paid for it within the packege selected. As with the live Cockpit Pro package it initially was a 3 year subscription which explains the 265 (3x85) So stop whining and pay for it or go on without carplay like you did, when you decided not to pay for it. |
