M40i ordered

I have put down my deposit today and locked in specs - switched the color back to blue - despite being really close to my 2011 Deep Sea Blue. Phytonic Blue is just a little bit lighter.

Specs:

M40I
Phytonic Blue
Mocha
698M 19" w/ all season RFT
Premium
Exec
Driver Assist
Adaptive-M
HK Sound
Apple Play
spare tire
hitch

last minute changes were to drop vented seats, rear heated seats and rear shades and use the $ for adaptive-m suspension. I rarely have back seat passengers... This board seems unamimous in NOT skipping Adaptive-M

should have it mid-late march - it went on a build slot that is scheduled early march.

Excited for everything but the payments.

Thanks for your help and guidance - also ignore my posts about some 30i color choices

Greg

i am in a good spot - i am traveling by air 1 week of the wait, and plan to spend the other 2 enjoying a last 2 weeks with my 2011 35i which has been the best car I've owned in my life (except a few oil leaks and a water pump).

another nice thing about the wait - sticker shock can come and go before the new X3 arrives. I have a serious case today. Not reconsidering decision, just standard stuff about personal finances we all go through after a large purchase.

Nice! You will not be disappointed.

I am not sure if you are aware but the tire option Code 22U: 19" 698M with all-season RFTs deletes the STD 840 which is the increased top speed limiter. I think the difference is a top speed of 127 mph vs 157 mph. Maybe consider Code 22S with the 19" mixed performance RFTs? It is the same price or maybe the increased top speed is not an issue for you. Just an FYI.

Phytonic Blue with Mocha interior looks great. What trim did you pick? Post pictures when you get her.

Again, congrats on making the right choice!

yes, aware about the spare tire space loss. i'm also aware that with a spare i can feel comfortable with the prospects of non RFT's when time to replace tires comes. the space loss is not ideal, but I will live.

Aluminum trim. Color scheme nearly identical to my F25 I am trading in. Pics will be posted for sure. I need to get one with my F25 next to my G01 on trade in.

They don't do build videos of your's being built anymore do they? I think I read that disappeared sometime around the F25 LCI release. I really liked that 6 years ago, I guess I will watch that again instead, i saved a copy.

Dang that was a quick turn around for going into production. I ordered mine on March 10th (Saturday) and I'm still waiting at "On Order" for the dealer's spot to be up. They said it should be able to arrive within 2-3 weeks after ordering but that seemed a bit optimistic to me. As long as it gets here before our current lease is up in late April...

my dealer had an M40i build slot that locked 3 days after I put my deposit down. It hadn't been claimed by another customer so it was going in as a set of specs to go into inventory. good timing I guess, I had just enough time to lock my specs. My dealer talked me out of going to SC for PCD because i could get this one so much quicker. Maybe the next one....

I would love to see pictures when that baby arrives! I ordered the same color combo. I haven’t seen it in person yet. I ordered mine on March 5th and I am still playing the waiting game. I can’t wait!

There will be pics for sure. We are getting a spring snowstorm today with more snow than we have had all winter in Maryland. Snow makes new cars dirty, at this point next week is fine.

Speaking of pictures - a forum question. Anyone know why the F25 forum has as separate forum for pics/vids and the G01 forum does not?

You couldn't do PCD with the production number they already had?

We just ordered a very similar build. In all the time I spent pouring over the build sheets, I missed the delete 840 that comes with the all seasons. I'm unlikely ever to drive that fast, but also seems silly to the the M40i capped like that.

Searching these fora and the broader googles, it seems like the set top speed isn't just a simple coding adjustment I could do later. In that case, I'm considering switching to summer tires. The bmwusa tracking still says "We are currently processing your order and will inform you once your BMW enters production," so we'll see if it's even still possible to switch.

Cheers!

What is the limit? 120 or 130? won't be an issue for me.

There must be a reason BMW decreases the the top speed with 19" all-season tires. I wouldn't know if it's safe or not...maybe someone that does could chime in. It could have something to do with the make and model of the tire that is offered.

That's exactly the reason. All season tires will have a lower speed rating than a performance tire. Then again, the performance will also wear out quicker, so there's give and take to both.
