Going mad trying to update software

As mentioned been updated to latest yesterday. I have spent some time and see no differences at all, no improvements that are visible.

On this, I just put the full screen CarPlay patch on and really quite like it. I see no need to update software unless there is some big improvement release (doubt it) or a security related patch. I'm concerned that an upgrade may remove my full screen CarPlay. Does the dealer normally upgrade as part of normal service (e.g. oil changes)? Do I need to request that they do not upgrade?

I have started to notice differences from previous software. Three days ago for 20 minutes the car thought it was one mile away from good location, in maps. Today idrive froze for some minutes. Never happened with old software.

any full screen carplay are not bmw/apple approved unfortunately. if u want it, u have to get it through third party, hence the worry of having full screen ACP removed if update idrive software.

I got same update, only differ I see is the backup camera now have a label on top said "Rear Camera"

iDrive 7 has full-screen CarPlay as standard.

Any full software update will change coding back to shipped values, so any coding you've done will be overwritten.

Those are the phone and media software versions. Those can be updated separately from the iDriver version.

I think you can see actual software version if you export you Driver's profile to USB key and open the file in text editor, like in my X4 m40d: S15A-18-07-540

What's your "Roadmap" version when you picked up the car? Mine is still 2018-1 although I have done a couple of firmware updates during the services. My "Automatic map update" is 2019-3 since last automatic update.
